I was in my hatch a while back. Before I found those discussions. I have the metal clip, '00 by the way, and assumed it was just a threaded rod but.....

Decided to paint the grill and both bumpers flat black today. Came out good (except my Jeep is too clean now, need to hit the dirt).

Had the rear brake hose made today. 16" (including fittings), stainless braided PTFE hose, heavy zinc plated steel fittings. $27 including tax.

Painted the steel ends Rustoleum black, masked threads, mounting hole and clip slot. Prepped everything with brake cleaner and a little Skotchbrite buff.

On the front lines, had a problem with the screws on one side. They are self tapping but would not go in far enough to hold the clip secure. Filed the screws down until they worked. Painted the zinc plated parts, masked off the side of the banjo fitting on the caliper side, the flat at the bottom, and the center on the bolt head side.

Last coat of paint before a full 2 days of drying, reassembly to Locktite the screws and paint them, then put them away until I can get the rest of my parts.

Got my new intake heat shield installed and new speedo gear and seal as well. New gear is close, within 2-5mph depending on speed, but I think quadratec's chart may be a little bit off. Still it's better than what it was (6-10mph).

Picked up another XJ not too long ago. 00 with a knocking motor. Swapped the motor for a 97 motor, monstalined it, have some STT pro 33s to throw on. Should be pretty much all back together tomorrow while I have a day off.

Installed a black grill and new factory foglights

also a 97 headliner came my way, with two 97 sound bars. Ignore the double map light. I have a solution for that

Fabbed up a bracket to install a power steering cooler for a guy's cj7 last night. Did a tune-up on a local member of the off-road club I belong to. Started prepping the seams on my jcr diy bumper for welding. And got my winch delivered today.

So I come across a listing for Agate leather seats with power seat bases on Craigslist. In the MA about 80 miles from me.
No mention of heated but I can see that both bases are power. Which means that technically both seats should be heated.
They look pretty good in the pictures so...
Decide to mess around a little. Averaged 21.7 MPG on the way there. 83.3 miles. Now that includes the short distance on sides streets to and from the highway, some WOT a couple times, but pretty much staying in the right lane with the cruise set 5 MPH under the speed limit.
Which is 55 in some places and 65 in others. And that MPG is what my overhead says.
On the way home I decide to just see what highway turns out to be. So same thing. Right lane. 5 MPH under the speed limit. 24.3 MPG. For a distance of 55 miles. It was only 55 miles cause I stopped for gas on the way home. 3 towns from home a gas station right off the highway was selling gas for $1.21.9. That is 30 cents cheaper then my usual place one town over and 50 cents less then in my town.
So seats ran $100. Gas less then $10 so I paid $110 for the seats. Always include gas in what stuff like this costs me.
Some of you might remember my heated leather driver's seat in the Jeep now.

The drive's seat of the set I just picked up.

Only those 3 little slits in the bottom.

Couple on the upper.

Also upper.

Now I have no idea if the heaters work or the power bases operate either.
Plus all I really want from this at the moment is the bottom of the driver's seat.
Passenger and back.

Back seat is actually more beat up then the fronts.
The guy did not even know they were heated. A buddy of his put these in a '98. Hooked up the power bases
but that was it. Cool thing is now I have pigtails from the harness that connects to the power seat base so
it will be a piece of cake to check to see if they are working.
The heaters I will have to get at the connectors and check continuity.
With any luck a much better driver's seat bottom and a boatload of spare parts.

So today I decided to play with the driver's seat.
The power base motors I believe to be shot. Powered them with my little jump box.
That is why I was so glad that the pig tail for the harness that runs over the floor of the Jeep was cut and still attached to the seat base harness itself.
Makes checking it out of the Jeep easy.
The heater in the driver's upright part of the seat works. I got continuity there.
I can't remember where I was supposed to get continuity in the bottom but I did in one place and I think the seat heater might be good.
There is more wiring in the bottom of the heated seat then the upright part.

Oh and remember how I told you guys it was $100 for the seats and probably close to $10 in gas for a total of $110 in my book?
Well I was wrong. Closer to $5 now. I found $4.55 in the driver's seat.
And one Canadian penny which is worth what? 1/2 cent. LOL.
And could be less if there is any money in the passenger seat. MLOL.

Default Uncovered my rust situation...

Continued digging into my 91 Limited. Pulled the carpet from the rear to find it's not as bad as it could be but, still a bit to work on. Mostly surface rust but a coupla holes through and through. Over all I'm pleasantly surprised.

Got the bumper mocked up and tacked. Tomorrow I'll start welding it together.
