Eyyym That’s not the whole story unless you run the lights at high intensity..

The rods are most efficient at low light settings, but aren’t very good at distinguishing colors or details, like instrument readings. In addition to being most sensitive to the greenish-blue wavelength, they are relatively insensitive to red. Conveniently, cones are most sensitive to green light, and the green/blue colors attempt to strike a balance between the rods’ low-light sensitivity and the cones’ acuity. As long as the green/blue light is at a low intensity, using it can help preserve our ability to read the instruments.
I learned about this through aviation physiology training in the 1980s and the 2000's. Even red can compromise your night vision if set too high.
Ultimately, it’s a personal choice, as long as we keep the light intensity at a minimum.
Even during daylight, watching the gauges is under-rated with some drivers, unfortunately.^^
Cheers

Default Valve cover mod

Did the Cruiser54 valve cover mod. Someone in the past had drilled holes in the flutes, I finished the job by cutting one inch off of the the height.
My oil press had been indicating 20 psi with the eng off, I cleaned the connector, switched on the ign and voila! The gauge drove to zero. A free fix, I like it!
Couple days ago did the 746 injector swap. Free injectors from my buddy who purchased a 86 Vette with these installed.

aviation has no bearing here

youre driving a car at night, whats outside your windshield is more important than on your dash....not so much in a plane

1st Gen "Fiji Blue". Body is in great shape. Has a new crate long block too, just have to install it. So, in my shipping container it goes and I'll order a few extra things from 3SX while I'm gone.

Right on. You are the one that brought up the physiology of it which is based on aviation. to each their own.

I have a day off so I'm getting her put back together. New coil springs, shocks, and LCA's finally going in.

I had to buy a monster jack for this, but it pushed that axle in place nearly effortlessly so I figure it just paid for itself. Taking an A/C break before I finish but here are the current pics:

Pilots in particular spend 75-80% of time looking outside, 20-25% spent scanning instruments.
*Physiology with respect to vision*, of course.
Yes, they employ such practices on ships but aviation is the number one source of current research and has been for 60 years.
Aircrew members must completely understand the function of the eye and the techniques that they can employ to overcome visual limitations. It is usually not the lack of visual acuity that causes problems for aircrew members but rather a lack of understanding of "how to see" properly.
Vision adaptation is even more problematic when over 5000' asl as some of us are quite often when out four wheeling. They eyes are quite sensitive to oxygen levels.
Smokers have an even worse time of it at sea level and it only gets increasingly worse as altitude increases.

I have no reason to BS people but go ahead and pat yourself on the back. Sheesh.

Finally ordered tires for my rig today - 255/85r16 Maxxis Bighorns. Pretty sure this will be the Jeep's sixth different tire size since being stock (stock - 235/75R15s - 30x9.5x15 - 31x10.5x15 - 33x10.5x15 - 255/85R16s). Can't wait for them to come in!

So pretty much been a bum for the last week. Haven't touched the Jeep.
So today I figured I would work on my getting something I want.
2 tone Limited Camel door panels with the fake wood grain.
The not Limited Camel panels in my Jeep are 2 tone.
I like them.
Unfortunately Limited Camel panels are not. So I am going to spray them.
Figured I would first see if I could mask them off well enough to try and get a decent job.
I took off the surround around the door handle. If you look at it through the back you will see six slots.
For the tabs that keep it in place. That and the one brass colored screw.
You pry away from the center in each slot after removing the screw.
Gently. 20 year old brittle plastic and all.
3 more to go. LOL.

We shall see what happens.
Tempted to paint the 2 rear door ones today.
As hot as it is the humidity is going to drop during the course of the day.
At least according to the hourly forecast in my zip code.
I only have what is left in the one can of SEM stuff, remember I tried it out awhile back on that one inset,
but figure it is enough to do at least two panels.
Could be enough for all 4 but figure better too have a second can to be sure.
