Finally got the tire carrier repaired, restored, and back on roof. Moved it over the B pillar from the back because it seems like getting a tire up there is easier standing on the rockers than trying to stand on the stock bumper.

Replaced all the steel fasteners with 316 stainless and a few other tweaks.

Some things I'm happy with, I need to tweak more lines, but overall coming together nicely.

H4 conversion and the front flare brackets inbound, with a "jeep" vanity plate.

Also bought a variable speed buffer. Will be piecing together daily.

I had similar scenario,
little scoring made me work twice. I had a blown head gasket and after replacement with TUPY head , misfire 2 came along. Checked compression and little scoring made my readings 70PSi,

Well my not working on the Jeep anymore till Spring is not happening.
Yesterday ran to the bank and noticed a very small drip of anti-freeze on the ground.
When I got home from work I put a piece of cardboard under there and sure enough.

Looks like it collecting right under the tranny line.

So I removed my electric fan so I could tighten the clamp on the lower hose a bit.
Got couple turns out of it.
Gotta tell ya. That Ebay electric fan I bought awhile back is pretty good. Thinking I paid $45 for it.
The connector off it is so much longer then factory. Didn't even have to disconnect it. Could just move it out of the way.

And instead of those clips the tabs that fit into the slots are wedged so it comes out easy.

Which is why I replaced the original one in the first place. When I did the radiator way back when
I did not realize those clips were on the fan. Yanking it up I was probably the moron that broke it.
But it could have been busted already. It worked fine but the broken tabs annoyed me.
So hopefully it is just a little of the "Winter Leaks" and tightening the clamp fixes it.
Cause if it is the radiator that means my Napa, rebranded Spectra, one lasted about 7 1/2 years.
We shall see. LOL.

A drip is better than the majority of the coolant capacity splattered on the engine like I had yesterday lol, either way, good thing you caught it.
About the fan, the 97+ move more air don't they? You just have to replace the connector with one off a 97+. If so, I'll pick up a connector next time I'm at the junkyard and add a 97+ fan to the list of things to purchase.

I have seen pictures of XJ fans that only have 6(?) fan blades.
Always figured those were older XJ's but not sure how old though.
Think mine has 10 blades.
Guessing that is where the moving more air comes in?
How many on a '96?

On a hopefully positive note.
I cleaned up best I could and a drip would come out every 10 minutes or so.
Thinking that it was cooling down and pressure was dropping I would start her up.
Let her idle getting to operating temperature and still getting a drop every 10 minutes or so.
So I am hoping it was the hose clamp and since I could not dry up every drop of anti-freeze
that gravity is just pulling down what was left.
Know better tomorrow I guess.

I went into my purchase history at Ebay.
This is the one I bought according to them.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Radiator-Co...72.m2749.l2649

I want to say that the reason I bought this one in the first place was cause it resembled my factory one really good.
But looked nothing like the picture when I got it.
At first I was pissed.
But then taking a closer look at it I thought that maybe the design is a little better.
No clips on the bottom tabs, just wedged, and the wiring being longer for more play.
And it was the correct connector for my '00. All in all pretty happy with it.
I noticed if you scroll down that Ebay page a bit you find this:

Well, now that is interesting. So I wonder if 96s have 6 or 10 from the factory, or even 5. I know I've heard the 97+ is an improvement, so I'm gonna say 96 didn't come with 10. I'll save both of those links for when I pull the trigger.

Well if that connector is correct for your Jeep then I would go with the second link.
Which closely resembles the fan that I ended up getting from the first link.

If '97 and up does move more air any chance it has nothing to do with the amount of blades?

True, IF it's good quality and will last as long as yours has.
I think whenever I saw 97 was better they mentioned the blades.

That fan I bought is only about 1 1/2 years old.
It is my radiator that is about 7 1/2 years old.
I did a water pump about 1 1/2 years ago and just said screw it and replaced the fan too.
That is how long I let the broken tab on the original fan annoy me. LOL.

Changed the output shaft seal and did an oil change. Bonus, speed sensor is working again.

Well so much for trying to think positive.
The leak persists.
