What did you do to your Cherokee today?
::CF Moderator::
Well I bought a 1995 Grand Cherokee XJ 2 weeks ago and it came home on a flatbed cause the rear end is locked up. I was excited the engine and transmission run perfect but it's been sitting a while, now I've found why he was gonna scrap it. So I bought my new passenger side mirror that's powered and heated like factory. Have to send back all the rebuild parts back I ordered, so I can try to find a whole rear end used for a 2WD.

The metal shield for my gas tank lines had rusted through in spots so I fabricated a new one out of 18g sheet metal. I think the original one was about 1 gauge above tin foil!

Took mine out of the garage today to stretch her legs..... not having to drive it too much with all this working remotely stuff.
If I were to ever part with this one it would have to be for something pretty special to me...because I love my old XJ....and would kick myself if I let it go to replace it with something that I didn't like at least as much.

Ditto!
Also had to mock up the donor parts as I wait on some sunny days,
Does anyone see what is wrong with this picture? This is why we mock up!
The latches on that hood were both quite ugly. Thankfully I had better ones for the Great Dane Flat Black. It took about 4 hours of PB Blaster soak then an M18 1/4" impact on Mode 2 to get the latches loose.
Mid prep..
And to think I was going to just leave the bottom teal. Quite glad I took it apart.
Hood spacers will be black, as well.
I could not lay enough of it on fast enough through their aerosol can so went with a matte finish (except on the edges which are glossy).
* They do sell it by the gallon and it could easily be a tough mirror finish that way. UV/fuel resistant, ect since it is industrial trailer paint.
Covers as well as bed liner with no fish eyes at all.
We will use this on all of the tough spots like door jambs and inner, top fender and bolts once all aligned.

Finally did the transmission solenoids. Got rid of my TC solenoid code, OSS codes gone. Transmission shifts fine, didn't realize I was driving a 3 speed all this time. Magical OD gear finally works. I was definitely puzzled by the RPM's being at like 2300 rpm at 50 mph. Now it works like it should my gas mileage was absolutely terrible before. Should be much better now, and this should also help keep some of the heat out of the motor. Think my transmission was running slightly warm and with the trans cooler and stock trans cooling it was heating up the motor even more. Things are slowly getting done. Just have the leaf springs and new front drive shaft to finish and the stuff that makes it go and ride should be good. Will finally have a chance to throw some fun stuff on it like bumpers and finish cleaning the interior up. She's getting there.

I did remove and clean my throttle body today. Started as a air filter check and then BAM the throttle body was off!
It had some carbon under the butterfly but not too bad....cleaned up and bolted her back down again. Easy!

Whoever decided to paint every single badge on my jeep orange needs to die in a fire. Orange and teal were the colors they decided would look the best. Lord have mercy on that poor mans soul.

So I was driving my Xj to work recently, (I wanted to make sure there was nothing I needed to address for my trip in June), noticed the Blue 98 Xj down the street was missing the cat, muffler was hanging down, (A-holes!) So I'm parking it behind my privacy fence in the back yard for the rest of the month.
