I'd be careful about filling up the tank that much.
I read something sometime back, that to be frank did not really understand, about messing with the Evap/Purge system or the venting or something.
My gas gauge is slightly off best I can tell. When I do fill up I never seem to need quite as much as the gauge makes me think I need.
I usually don't let my tank get below 3/8ths. And I like to fill up completely when I do get gas. So I go in, give them more money then it would cost, fill up, and go back in for the change.
But after the click I round up to the next dollar and sometimes I notice the needle past full sometimes.
And then I think about that crap I read, again that I didn't really understand, about putting in too much gas.
Every once in awhile when I think of it throw in a thing of Lucas and dry gas before I fill up.
Saved a bunch of the small containers that people threw out when buying it at my store who put it in there tank right there.
So I just buy the big bottle and refill the little ones. Hey I am cheap. LOL.
Saved a bunch of the little Heet containers too and just fill those with 90% Isopropyl Alcohol.
Keep 'em in the Jeep and like I said here and there when I think of it.
I average about 22 MPG on the highway. Thinking 14 around town.
My overhead says about 16 MPG between the 2.
And when I first installed the overhead and had to take a longer trip I kept track.
The overhead pretty much said what I came out with from my calculations from the receipts so.....
One time screwing around on a trip to the boneyard I jumped on the highway, reset everything, got in the right lane with the cruise set
at 55, and with the little over 13 mile trip on just the highway averaged over 25 MPG.
LOL.
We've put 110k on it most often topping it to the brim. 20-22 is more the average up here inthe san luis valley.
This trip was up 285 to ft collins, basically.
Of course we are not going 75 mph in it, either. That eats an instant 5 mpg, here even out in KS on I-70.
I keep it under 65 most usually. Just got her a 2000 4runner to DD while we do some maint on this one.

I sanded/wire brushed the "rust" off my head pipe and CAT. I think I'd rather keep these than install an aftermarket aluminized steel pipe.

I would like to see if I can find some paint to paint the pipe and CAT though to make it look uniform in color. I don't want to keep working it with progressively finer grits to get it pristine.

Then I sprayed what I have clean underneath with Boeshield.

Next up: transmission crossmember and new mount install.

Default Engine ground cleanup

Armed with a Dremel, wire brush and some dielectric grease I was only able to cleanup 3 connections and the battery before it started getting dark and cold, but it's a start. I did notice some discussion about the one behind the fuse box up by the radiator support. If your careful there are tabs that push over and release the box so you can get a ratchet on that bolt.

Slightly pull the box up as you release the clips.

I found it ridiculous that they had to reinvent the wheel for the ground on the passengr side just at the backside of the fuse box. The 2 piece snap together eyelet had some nice crud between the 2 pieces. I'm glad I took the time to get them apart.

The new battery must have been taller and was very inconveniently positioned so the negative terminal is in line with the now broken underhood light cover. I'll just make another.

Adjusted the steering to centre the wheel in preparation for getting the alignment done because (a) they always start by straightening the wheel (b) the 2 adjustments just seems to confuse everyone here.

While I was under there, I doused the tie rod threads, & the clamps, with penetrant, to make life a bit easier for the guy at the tyre shop - no harm in that.

Finally catching up on the maintenance after we replaced the blower motor and the thermistor.
Today, I replaced the heater relay receptacle with a ceramic one and installed a new 87a relay.
Also gave the hood, engine compartment and undercarriage a good pressure washing.
Gave it a good look over underneath. Topped off the tires and fluids.

Replaced the plugs and coil pack.

Going to see about replacing the injectors and clean up the fuel rail and wrap it. Getting hard to start without throwing codes after it sits when warm and re starting after 2-30 minutes. Must be heat soak.

FWIW, I just received injectors ordered from Trevor here in the forum. I don't have them installed yet but they came packaged perfectly with a test sheet that shows them very well matched. The injectors themselves really look brand new. He may be refurbishing these but he must do something to make the housings look better.

Though I don't have them installed yet, I am confident that they will perform well. I repainted my fuel rail to make it look better but I'm covering it up with a wrap anyway.

Oh, and I did this yesterday. Carpet next.

I used Kilmat. Bought it from Jeff(Amazon). I got a big enough package to do what I wanted to do on the floor, inside the doors, rear quarters with enough left over to do the roof one day. Though I may not do the roof. 36 Sq. ft., 80 mil thick for $69.

I made some progress on the camp kitchen part of my tire carrier build. It's now functional, just needs some minor fabrication, final welding, media blasting and paint ... and mounting of the bottle opener of course.

Looks good! I need to do that. I have to strip down the interior to fix rust in the floor pans and cargo area. Probably replace carpet too!

I just about have my new cargo carpet installed. So far it's going well. I need to do some work on the rear shoulder belts. I cannot figure out how the seat belt strap gets "backwards" in the latches/clips. They are so hard to flip back the correct way, there is no way they can do that on their own, is there?

I had to do that with one of the front belts also.

I’m so close to finishing the engine portion of my project that I have been screwing around with since November 1st. Of course I forgot to buy spark plugs so those will have to wait until tomorrow. As there was oil in the coolant, I did NOT install a thermostat because I want to flush this thing ASAP. I did a ghetto flush of the block with the head off of it using a special watering wand a couple months ago. My plan is to fill the block with hose water and the cleaning solution and get it hot. Then drain, run another cleaning job, then drain and refill with distilled and fresh coolant.

Default Yea, death wobble at 55

I got to looking at the bolt holding the axel end of the track bar. The washer is loose! It looks like a welded on handle on the nut end, but it’s bent. I tried to get the bolt loose, but I broke that handle off the nut, and the whole thing spins easily. I tried putting a 15mm open end wrench on the nut end. The nut just spins around under it. I giess I’m going to have to cut it off. I might tackle that today. I see an option of using a bigger bolt and a bushing with a bigger shank, and drilling the holes out bigger.
