What did you do to your Cherokee today?

I like the dial. It's probably my favorite shift-by-wire shifter. Last summer I rented an F-150 that despite being shift-by-wire, it had a column shifter that looked and worked exactly like automatic column shifters have for the past 50 years. The Prius wasn't too bad, since it had a discrete park button, and every other function was a dedicated movement of the control stick. The Volvo on the other hand... Reverse was easy enough, being push the thing all the way forward, and park was a dedicated button. D was sandwiched between N and M. It was like having to get exactly 2 clicks on a very fine-toothed Snap-On ratchet. 1 or 3 clicks was not the right gear. I mostly got used to it, but still had to watch the indicator to find D. Maybe it would have been better if it had the Orrefors crystal shift ****.

Dumped the front and rear diff fluid today and also the AX-15 fluid. Wow; the rear fluid appears to be original (340,000 miles) and was this thick brown goop. Had the factory original orange RTV thats nearly impossible to scrap off. The front was done at some point by a PO. The AX-15 was this nasty black mess. Refilled it with 3.5qt of Red Line MT-90 and filled the front and rear diff's with Walmart Synthetic 75W-90. Also replaced the All-in-one Thermostat-Temp Sender-Housing unit in my '17 GC. I bought it knowing it was stuck open. The genuine Mopar part was the same price as RockAuto and the special Mopar OAT coolant was $10/gallon less than Advance Auto Parts ($15/gal via Mopar.com). Its interesting how ordering from Mopar.com and picking up at your local dealer saves a fortune on parts and you don't get stuck with the ridiculous shipping. I bought a new replacement wiper motor assembly from Mopar.com (Part #CBTBD220) and it was only like $28. I will harvest the motor out of that and install it in my '97 as the wiper motor is very slow.
AX-15 Fluid was N-A-S-T-Y! ('97)
These new motors are so "intense" ... ('17 Jeep GC)

Lazy sunday, used rivnuts to mount my fridge/storage frame. I'll save the tray and drawer rails for another day.
Tidied up the rear seatbelts by mounting the pivot and zip tied the rest to itself as well as reinstalled the buckle bolts (was tires of the whistle the open holes made).

Way nicer than the free upgrade I did yesterday to replace the Pioneer boat anchor.
On a side note, anyone see the Torx Bit Consipriacy video on YouTube? Gave me a good laugh...

Yeah that's a bummer they won't let outside links here to YT or Amazon.
I drained the NP231 today. Nasty black fluid. This thing has been lacking some regular fluid maintenance...
I just got back from Advance Auto Parts. Bought a replacement Walker SoundFX muffler #18568 and some clamps for tomorrow's project. The 60 degree days with clear skies has been a treat for this "Winter" so far in Denver.
