What did you do to your Cherokee today?

I though that trick only worked with rear shock top mounts. Had the same problem with a rear bump stop, managed to drill it out or, rather drill & tap a hole & the fact it wasn't completely straight was so important. The sway bar brackets are far more accessible, so shouldn't be such an issue..

When I busted a bolt replacing my rear bump stops I was able to just knock it into the uni-body.
Was a little tight getting my rivnut tool in there but was doable.
And the hole was the perfect size for a 5/16" bolt which was the size already in there so that worked out well.

Now that's not the sort of approach I'd expect from Ralph - but the worst that can happen is you're no worse off than before trying that.

Replaced Shifter boot.
1988 XJ - replaced the rubber shift boot with a leather one. I only uploaded the shift boot picture, I'm not sure why the others show since they're not mine.

I really want to find a 97+ 5 speed.. I miss driving a stick
In other news someone local has a 2001 amber fire XJ for sale that needs a motor but it doesn't look that molested. Wish I had the cash..

Got back from camping, took the cherokee 2000 mile from California to New Mexico and back.
She does not like pulling up hills in 105F ambient temps.
Failures:
Evap purge solenoid code
Rear pinion seal
Driver rear shaft seal
Somehow the catalyst status finally changed to complete.

At least you did run out of things to do!! I am slowly replacing all seals and gaskets on my 98 before I take a long trip.

New rims and tires. I was nervous if I calculated everything right. Really wanted 235/85R16 and couldn't find a whole lot of information on that size. So far they seem to fit. This was my mom's car that was dead in the garage when I inherited her house. I remember helping her pick it out and the hopes she had for enjoying the car (lots of camping), but sadly disability took away the ability to use it how she originally planned (though she got one good trip on the Carmel coast). I almost scrapped it but a buddy convinced me otherwise. 106k on it, little old lady rigorously maintained. So glad I kept it. This is going to be my old man fishing rig up here in the Rocky mountains.
Zone 3" lift. Metal Cloak upper/lower control arms and track bar. Rancho lift shocks. 16X6.5 +40 steelies. Hercules Venture 235/85R16 tires.
Edit: soon to do an SYE as it vibrates a ton. Definitely also needed extended brake lines (I got the RockAuto Sunsong budget ones).

Got my AC topped off, 3 oz $125. sloppy steering taken care of too. Should be ready for inspection. I have street rod tags on it, but will need regular tags as she becomes my DD.
