I drew a picture of it while I was at "work." Slow night.

You like?

Note: it's rock crawling, that's why the front axle looks a little funny.

I used my multimeter and tested the wire from the coolant temperature sending unit plug to the gauge. The reading told me that the wire was good. I was getting a reading of 13.70 volts through the temp gauge wire. I than looked at the sending unit and noticed that the base for the sending unit was broken which when pluged in it would be very weak conection to the sensor it self. There for I figure replacing the old sensor should fix the problem.

Has anyone here noticed that their gas gauge moves a lot while driving. I mean When I gas up and have a full tank the gauge shows full. After driving a mile or two it shows that I have three quarters of a tank. Could the sending unit be going out?

If it's while your accelerating, it could just be the fuel shifting in the tank. When you fuel up, though, do this:
After the pump clicks itself off, wait about 5 seconds and pump some more gas in until it clicks off again. Now you have a FULL tank.

My gas gauge moves around a LOT.... (+/- 1/4 tank)...Going uphill vs. downhill, left turn vs. right turn, accelerating vs. braking....I only use it for a rough approximation of how much fuel I have....

Ditto, I use miles for a more exact measurement, it works really well (about 250 miles/tank) right up until I go wheeling....
