I picked up a totaled 4x4 and swapped everything over. Its a simple bolt in job. Anybody with fair wrenching skills can pull it off. Cost was price of the junker. Just find one with the parts you need to use in good shape.

Dude you don't need cash to fix it haha...just some decent tools...here it is in a nutshell...pull horn cap off...unscrew the 3 phillips screws...use a steering wheel puller which you can rent from auto zone for free..pull your steering wheel off...proceed to remove the turn signal assembly ( pain in the ****) pull wires and turn signal towards you and let it hang...there are a few black and silver torx screwes in it that will allow you to get deeper into the column...all that holds the column tight is 4 silver inverted hex bolts...I only managed to get the bottom two tightened and be sure to put lock tight on the threads...put everything back together in reverse order ( you will also need a lock plate remover...should be included with the rental steering wheel puller...just be super patient and plan on about 3+ hrs if your not familiar with it..google jeep xj steering column loose and look for the thread on this forum...has pictured for each step...mine works nice now...I got pissed though and ended up breaking a little pin that controls the click off for the turning signal when you turn left...besides that everything works including tilt
