What to Do with Spare Tranny Crossmember?
I picked up this spare crossmember from some guy who sold me a custom CB mount. He had no use for it so he said I could have it. I have literally no idea what to do with it, since mine is in good condition, and I don't really see where else on the undercarriage I could situate it for added protection. I was thinking I could maybe drill some holes in it for U-bolts, turn it upside down and mount it on top as a makeshift light bar? I dunno. I need ideas, and I need a light bar, since my Rage rack is too short to be adequate for them.
Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Keep it somewhere in the garage...if your not protected under your jeep (skids) you will likely hit yours on a rock (it happened to me). Always good to have a spare!
or you can cut it up and make a light bar out of it haha
what ever floats your boat!
good luck

what about mounting it close to your other one and bolting on some 1/4 steel to both of them as a make shift added under belly protector thing? or chop cut rebuild it into a light bar.

I plopped it on top to see if it'd fit, but it's too short, doesn't reach either side, so I'm thinking more power retrain armor or something. I like the 1/4 " steel idea, I just don't have any tools and would probably have to go to a shop or something.

Id keep it for a spare.
That being said I just scrapped the extra ones I had because I replaced my horseshoed x-member with a Treks Offroad HD x-member. I tried to find a link but all I can find is their belly armor.
Cost about 150 bucks, I dont think I will be able to bend it or tweek it.

I am working on a OEM crossmember now take a cutter and hack over half of the box off. From there you can weld in supports to be flush with the cuts then go back and weld the 1/4 plate in place. from there I am trying to decide to expand it or just leave it as it. I took it onto Blanca peak a few weeks ago and dragged it accross some rocks and it was fine.
