It's not so much the juice as I learned from a very very knowledgeable Ham radio instructor here on CF, but how it's tuned and having everything set up right. I remember back in the 70's we used to skip half way across the country on AM using less than 7 watts of output. My antenna does get hot for sure when I turn it up all the way. But I can get just about horizon to horizon flatland on AM during the day with it cranked up.

Here's something funny though related to what you just asked... I can put a florescent light tube close to my antenna and make it glow when I key up... lol

I said 1911 not a glock lol,I have had that gun for a long time and it was my grandpas before me.It has never jammed on me yet knock on wood.

I have to say out of all of the handguns I've ever personally fired... which is an awful lot of them... the 1911 .45 still has to be one of the smoothest ones I've ever shot. And that's part of the reason they were produced and issued for military use around the world for literally decades and decades. toughness and reliability. I'd own one in a heartbeat if they weren't so pricey. IMHO.

I built this last one with a Rock Island Frame and parts kit. Everything fit nice... I was impressed. Completely assembled they go for about 450. They also have a kit that comes with two barrels, one in .40 s&w and one in 10 mm. I want this kit... .45, .40 and 10 mm all from the same 1911.

^^^ oh... my mistake... didn't clarify.. I meant for a true orig. 1911, not a modern reproduction in same or other caliber. sorry.

now that I'm back... seriously considering getting another SA XD40 Mod2. That's what I had for my cc before and really, really liked it.

Yep, If you find an original 1911 that ain't worn out, it's going to cost you dearly. lol

yeah...very true...a good friend of mine has his dad's original WWII issued one, and I've shot it a few times..and oh man, I was in love. Such a beautiful gun to fire. Smooth, and so little recoil for a .45. I could shoot one of those all day long and not get tired. lol.

Only one problem with them though... They are HEAVY. lol But this is what makes them smooth to shoot.

I get the reasons people love 1911s. But it is just not for me. My FNX-45 shoots just as smooth and accurate and holds twice as many rounds in each magazine.

I have fired those, they are a fine weapon. My problem is I'm a smaller guy with small hands so the slimmer profile of the 1911 lets me grip it easier. But mostly being all metal and heavier helps me keep it down for a second tap. But as for capacity, I always wondered if more than 7 or 8 rounds in .45 is ever actually going to be needed to stop someone, if you are hitting the mark of course.

Yeah.. the 1911's are nice...but agreed...there are a ton of different goodies out there to try.
I liked my Springfield Armory XD40 Mod2 for cc because it's so compact, reliable..and it does have a wider grip because it uses a double-stack magazine.

very true...but the extra weight on them never bothered me.

so to keep this whole thing on topic.... lol... how does it work with them in your vehicle in AZ seeing as how AZ is an open carry state? Do they even have cc's in AZ?

You can get a CC, but unless you really have a certain reason to it's not needed. We can carry Concealed without any permit required.

My cc in Colorado is still valid, so was thinking of transferring it after I get to AZ so I still have one.

If it's not a lot of trouble then why not? It could be redundant right now but it might lock you in if anything changes in the future. You already have the approval and status.
