$4K is a reasonable low offer 'if' everything checks out OK especially with little to no rust. Which i already mentioned.
I'll agree on one thing, if its a rust bucket, i'd not offer anything but pass instead.
These things ain't grow'n on trees anymore.
Yeah, for the buyer it'd be great if people are giving good condition XJs away.
For the seller with a good condition vehicle...not so much.
In our free market (so far the way things are going), XJs today are worth whatever people want to pay for them.

man, threads like this make my day! total in my almost rust free 00 is $2000 after 1200 plus fixes. running like a top. solid frame and rockers,3 small holes in doors.
