Honestly i would keep it, at this point you're not going to get what you put into back at least for a while if you keep it clean. Things go and although it sucks the heater core has gone on your 98' things happen. Is it your only DD? If not then keep it to the side for a while and fix things as time goes on, it'll keep it fun but not too stressful. Any vehicle that has work put into it will give you some issues, the good part about that is learning from those issues and becoming more aware of your mechanical skills. I've read and have been told numerous times about people who sell their Jeeps and immediately regret it, and then you see people buy new ones and start all over again with the same thing. One day you'll look back and be happy that you kept it, I'm sure of that. It's a Jeep thing.

Yes all things wear out. You must maintain it. Be ready and know the time line of things that need proper maintenance. I have a 36 year old car with 300 plus miles that has never failed or left me stranded because I meticulously maintained it.

I think the biggest thing bumming me out right now is the water that leaked into the vehicle on the driver floor board. I am not sure where the water got in from or how to even fix this. It was a one time occurrence due to the snow being pile up 6-8" on the Jeep then melting. But I am like if it leaked once it can leak again.
BTW, I sold my 2000 and did regret it shortly after. That is how I wound up with my current one.

It is my daily driver but I don't have to drive it to work all the time. I only have to go 15 miles to get my company vehicle that I work in so my wife can take me and pick me up while the Jeep is being worked on and I would not have to worry about getting it put all back together over a weekend.

Don't sell it. It seems like your problems aren't huge. I don't think it would be worth it to just give up on it because you are tired of fixing stuff. Like you said, it's old and parts need to be replaced no matter what you do. With that said you will get to a point when all the important parts are replaced and your Cherokee will be running great. If you did sell it what would you get to replace it? Mine has all kinds of problems that I slowly fix as I mod it at the same time. I don't have a/c and I'm in south florida so don't put that too high up on your list. Since you know about the leak now just don't let snow build up on it for too long and watch for leaks during heavy rain.

Well I had a chance to pull the carpet back on the drivers side today to assess the damage and there was not a puddle of water under the carpet like I thought there would be and the carpet was pretty well dry.
It is 70* here today so I am letting it air out anyway while it is sunny and warm. Got to bypass the heater core temporarily until I have time to yank the dash.
Still thinking about selling it though.

I would sell it. Once you fix the heater core it will be something else. It will never end. You have a bad Jeep. Just like me you baught a Jeep from someone who never maintained it and never replaced anything and now its all catching up. If you dont need it and its clean I say sell it. I would sell mine in a heartbeat as I also baught it for 4k, repaired about 4k worth of things (including a cylinder head) within the 11k miles I put on it (yes 4k miles a year so its like I'm barely running it). If I do the math and ran this thing 12k a year based on the repairs so far it would cost me more to run the Jeep then its costing me to run my bmw m3 . But I banged up the Jeep a bit offroad and I wouldnt be able to sell it for 1500$ right now. If you could get your purchase price (forget the repairs) I would sell it since you seem pissed off with it. It will not get better.

I hate for both of us but you made me feel better by saying all of what you said.
