Hey run my Jeep into yours, mine will come out on top everytime....
You and your passenger will need face transplants due to no airbags and you don't have side impact cross members in the doors for protection and your unibody is not as stiff as mine... I have 29 spline 8.25 and a ****ty chrylser interior/electronics that always go wrong(only con of newer design)

Well its sill his vehicle bud you should have had your mech friend go with you. Missing out on a good jeep to be stubborn? Use your good judgement. If it was clean and ran fine I dont see a risk in just buying it for $2300. Your not buying a $15k truck here.

I have sold quite a few vehicles In the 1500-2500 range and I've never been open to letting someone take them to a mechanic. Number one, my time is money. I'm not going with you and waiting. Number two, you're not taking the vehicle yourself while I still own it. Number three, it's a 1500-2500 dollar vehicle. It has stuff that's worn. And if your mechanic is worth his salt, he will tell you all about it. That will scare off a ton of buyers that don't understand what a cheap vehicle is.
As a buyer I understand you wanting to have it checked out. But you should also understand that just because he doesn't want to do it doesn't mean it's a bad deal or that he's trying to hide something.

Also keep in mind when buying any vehicle at that price range just because it runs doesnt mean its 100%. I wouldnt buy it and drive it the next day without doing any maintanance first. Change fluids look at the worn parts and replace whats really needed.

Ok, I guess maybe I'm just used to people who are wanting to sell something, when i call him on Friday he was fine with meeting on sat. Then sat. he tells me he cant and that we need to meet on Monday at any time in the afternoon..... so then i tell him ill be heading out soon and he tells me that i need to hurry cause he doesnt have time and he wants to hang out with his GF.... The mechanic thing wasnt that big an issue to me but it was just really a "are you serious" thing in my mind that he wants to sell something but is making no time to do so at all, nor really even try to communicate with me.
I understand what you guys are saying about it not being 100% but still.... Maybe it's just the salesman in me.
