so what this guy doesn't have an asking price? he's forcing you to make an offer? he's obviously fishing because he knows it's junk but wants to see what he can get out of you. so go ahead and lowball the **** out of him. if he says no then oh well there will always be a constant stream of crappy parts floating through craigslist. get the next one
I am not sure why you'd even bother posting it for $300 if you'd feel bad selling it for $100 because it's so ****ty. That argument doesn't make sense, you may as well just throw it in the trash.

I'm not saying they "hold value" a 50% return is terrible (which is about what you paid for yours, the RC kit is about $600 and if this is $300, the deal would be comparable to what you got since you were missing stuff and had to replace some things). If the kit was in good shape and didn't have any issues, I'd pay $300 for it, then I'd go and change the rubber bushings in the leaves with urethanes for $30. I paid over twice that for a new RC kit and it was worth it. But if a guy lists it for $300, I won't offer him $200 less on it because that is a ****ty thing to do. If you don't want to pay close to his asking price, don't even bother talking to him. If he doesn't list a price hit him up and see a ballpark of what he's looking for. You don't need to insult him by throwing him some ridiculously lowball offer.

I believe I am just going to avoid heading down this road, because I don't know what I'm getting myself in to; I would rather buy new than take the chance of paying for something, only to find out it is at full sag. I originally wanted to go w/ an OME kit, but saw this ad and thought maybe it would be good for a quick fix. But, I myself, am not one for wanting to haggle (lo-ball) nor do I want to end up paying too much.

Your looking at about 200lbs the most so that should bring you about .60 in scrap. Offer no more then $.60

I had asked what he was looking to get out of the kit and he said to make an offer! I haven't responded because I don't want to spend too much on it; at the same time, I don't want to low ball.

If he doesn't have a price listed and he wont give you a number, that's when I'd offer something low, not stupid low (like $5), but low.
How old is the kit? What kind of condition? If it's real used I would just go with new stuff. If not, offer him $100 and see what he says. Lol.

I do that all the time when I sell stuff. it's because I dont really know what it's worth, but I know it's not worth much. so I'm gonna try to see what it's worth to you then tell you the number I had in my head. which is higher than the number you're going to say. ask him where he got the kit. did he pull it off his jeep? did he pull it off a jeep he bought?

seriously if you want the kit just shoot him a number. the fact that he doesn't have a firm price or even a price at all means he's pretty negotiable
