Like I stated before, a 2WD rig with a 5 speed, and 225/75/15's, and 3.08 gears (I think)...I should be doing better than 16 mpg combined highway/city driving. I think I'm going to swap the oxygen sensor as a PM measure; it's a 50 dollar experiment, but it couldn't hurt. I'm hoping that the dirty Arab's gas pump was just off.
If those bastard's gas pumps are off calibration just a hair- say off one gallon for every 20 gallons pumped; just think about how much extra money they make every day. They have no incentive to have the pumps calibrated. I guess that's where trusty ol' big brother is supposed to step in...

I'm not sure yet....but the 92 in F/T 4HI has already burned thru almost a 1/2 tank of gas and it's got 110mi. on the trip clock....I'll let you know what the final verdict is when I fill up again...

Keep in mind ya'll, that winter blends of fuel have been proven to not be as potent; at least from a mileage standpoint. You'll be able to go more miles during the summertime. This is hard for me to explain, because the winter fuel is more volatile, which would make you think that there are more BTU's in a gallon of winter gas.
I just changed my Oxygen sensor, and I can already tell a difference. I've gone 100 miles on a 1/4 tank. (running 93 octane)

if you want a dead on calculation of mpg fill up till its topped off reset the counter drive say 50-100miles top off the tank again.divide the number of miles you drove by the number of gallons you had to replace. any other method is just geussing big time! and you could be off by alot since theres reserve tank.ive always wondered why jeeps are so hard on gas. my 5.0l mustangs get around 14 city and a amazing 26mpg in my 86gt 5 speed but it has 2.73 rear gears so it sits at 1600rpm doing 60mph.
im not sure what to expect from my 86 2.5l 4speed and am wondering if it should be at 3grand doing 60mph ?? seems a bit high.

i have an '87 4cyl 4spd, and i get about 22mpg on average, if i dont go offroad... ive got no cat and a cheap performance exhaust(not legal, but where i live they get stolen anyway...), and 235/75/15s, i got less due to my spare being on the top of the rig, so i went to a 215/75/15 spare inside i cant fit my fullsize in the stock spot.

Well, we have a 92 stock Laredo with a 4.0, 4x4, automatic and we get 15 mpg in city, on the long haul, going up hill, going down hill, turned off, parked, it's amazing and maddening! I want that 16!!! SOME kind of difference!
