found mine listed on craigslist fer 850$. called my ma and she in turn called her husband. went, looked at it and bought it the same day.
just a shame i only got 3 months of driving out of it, sat for 4 almost 5months before calling it quits and traded for a xplorer.

One day when I was on my morning run through the mists in the Himalayas I saw a faint glow from a rocky pier up above me. I climbed 80 feet of rock face to get up to it.
Once there I saw that it was the glimmer of the morning sunlight off of a pristine black vehicle with 6 of the eyes of god blinding me at 100 watts from atop a 7 ton boulder.
As I approached I was immediately surrounded by ninjas that were hiding in behind nearby trees, brush, and blades of grass.
Lucky me I always carry a set of authentic folded-steel samurai swords from 17th century Japan. I was writing a script for a movie based on that era and trying to get more into the mind frame.
As I stepped round and round, guaging my opponents ability to adjust to my footwork and stances, I finally threw my swords at a few of them between me and the XJ. They scattered and I took off like a bat from hell for the door. Thank god the keys were in there
The rest is history.
Sincerely,
Wayne~

i got my xj by surprise. id been searching for a 2door 5speed for a few months with no luck then while driving down to my grandpa's this xj popped out of a side street in front of me had a for sale sign on the back window i flagged him down and ended up finding an original owned 1995 2door 5speed with only 68k miles on it! its only got 86k on it now after 2 years of my ownership

89MJ, bought from a friend for $250
90XJ- was my dads until he died, my wicked stepmother sold it, I found it and bought it back for $450. It had a blown engine and a homeless man was living in it.
94XJ- bought from a used car lot for $3500
96XJ- bought from the same car lot, he wanted 7k for it. It had a bad 8.25 in it so I talked him down to $4700. It only had 60K on it and had been a rental in the Greensboro NC area
96XJ- bought from a friend on the eastern shore of MD, $1200
00XJ- bought from a local Jeep dealer, it was originally owned by a local Judge and was meticulously cared for and super low miles. paid $9000

First one was driving around saw it and a lifted one sitting in a semi-abandoned car lot that my buddy knew the owner of week later got it for $1000
Second one was for parts but saw it sitting at a shop and asked about it was told it needed lots of work and after looking it over saw it was an accident victim in a past life so called the owner and got it for $250
Third one got off craigslist for $750 great find
