I do about 80 miles a day, and a lot of camping, fishing, kayaking, pop-up towing, and snow-wheeling in my stock XJ. My version of stock is an up-country clone with 30x9.5/r15 tires (don't know if that disqualifies it in the minds of some as being "stock").
Got it with 49k miles about 4 years ago, and just went over 116k miles.

Basically the same reason I installed the flaps - to keep all the winter crap from directly blasting the rocker / lower areas of these Jeeps.
Both run the exact same tires - P235 75R 15, 1 size up from stock with a 1.5" spring spacer in the front.

My ONE major regret is not having put on flaps when I first got it. The body was in good shape, and the floors in the rear were "ok" (not great). The majority of rust and body work I'm having to do now are directly in the path of where the tires throw gravel, slush, and salt.

I have a set of the rally armor flaps, and haven't put them on yet. I might just bite the bullet and grab one of the few remaining pairs of mopar flaps for pre-97 XJs that float around on ebay, etc.

Gotta admit the universal ones look better on jturbo's XJ's then I thought they would.
I bought some and after staring at them and trying to picture them on the Jeep, kept trying to
place them on the Jeep while still in the package, I was not happy with what I thought they
would look like.
So got lucky and found some '97 to '01 XJ Mopar ones on Craigslist close to me.
Did cost me $50 for the four.
This is an old picture with the four of them on. Best I could find.
Since then I have put on the factory running boards and with them you don't use the
front two.

When I first bought the 99 Cherokee, I hunted for the factory / molded flaps for a while with no luck, so I went with the universal units.
I run mud flaps on all my vehicles, even the pretty ones:

Probably lucky you did not come across any.
You might have been tempted to bite the bullet and spend the money.
People ask outrageous amounts for them on Ebay.
When they do come up I want to say they sometimes try and sell them separately.
Like $35 each.
I vaguely remember one listing and want to say that the guy wanted $150 for all 4.
I looked real quick. I was wrong. How about $50 each. And the guy seems to only have 3 out of 4.

Yes.
1996 XJ Sport, 352,000 miles.

Radiator replaced with a 3 core around 2003ish and upper/lower rad hoses with Gates, water pump replaced about 2017 (gasket was leaking, still looked fine otherwise, replaced with a new one anyway). fuel pump replaced around 2003ish, but was a waste of money, was fuel pump relay. Crank position sensor replaced 2012, but was probably just a bad connection to the harness. Had same problem again and re-greasing and connecting, with a zip tie stopped it. Two oil senders (Walmart oil changer broke one, replacement died of natural causes), two starters (new replacement from 2005ish was rebuilt 2019). Replaced alternator once, 2013. Cab blower motor replaced, and burned out switch fixed. (If anybody has a solution to that switch using relays, I am all ears).

Might have replaced another sensor or two in there, but the issue was likely the connection rather than the sensor. Did a G102 DLC (Data Link Connector) fix myself a couple of times, going to re-do it in grand weatherproof overkill fashion soon.

A/C clutch went out years ago. Stayed off the defrost and A/C positions on dash ever since. It finally stopped squealing and smoking this year. Plan to replace most of the A/C parts soon, acquiring tools now.

Every time I think the valve cover, rear main seal, or oil pan is leaking, I have been mistaken. None of the bolts on the pan or valve cover have been touched since I got it new. Have been running full synthetic Mobil1 products since about the second oil change. Currently using Mobil1 High Mileage, that stopped some of the drips other than the blown out oil sender spewing oil when running.

Currently have a short commute, about 7 miles each way, top speed limit is about 45, no serious hills. Running about 3,000 miles per year.

I still drive one of my XJs stock daily. And I plan on keeping it that way.

Yes. A 2WD drive model I purchased new in 2001. It was to be a boat - toy tower, and baby - gear hauler. The boat is gone and the baby is grown, but I still drive it daily approximately 80 miles. Currently at 269500 and runs like a champ. I take it easy and do not push it much anymore. Mostly highway putting at 72 MPH. I will stick it out till the engine or tranny drops.

Front only, nothing in the rear? Looks good. I may do that and go 235/70 16.

Driving a 98 SE. Did it’s first long distance drive today since I’ve had it. 260 miles round trip. 3 hours each way and it was parked about 3 hours there. Used barely over a half tank of fuel. I’ve only driven it about 4,000 miles total in the last year and a half. Has 167,700 on it. It was a secondary vehicle but it’s become the primary for the past month.

ZJ wheels with 235-75. Interior from a 99. Muffler rotted and fell off last winter so now it’s a piece of flex pipe from cat to tailpipe. Don’t take enough pictures of it. For some reason I take a bunch of the one with the lift and tires.
It’s still work in progress. I’ll be driving it in it’s current state for much longer. Repairing and replacing stock parts over that time. Eventually maybe replacement heavy duty rear springs with shackles or relocation brackets and 2” over stock front springs. 30-31 inch tires.

Ok, so I pulled pinstripes today and gave it a quickie wash. There's some paint/ body issues I'll get to, and the interior is nearly up to par for me, minus the headliner that I'll get done probably mid October. Ordered vent visors and some chrome lug nuts. Also have some 60th anniversary floor mats on the way. I need a tow package.
