Default who has a lifted xj that rides like a dream?

whatya runnin?!

recently became a daddy so the xj is becoming the family vehicle.
need to do away with the bumps and hops and change flying everywhere

so, what are you running for suspension? and have you done anything besides suspension work (like insulating, etc) to make the cabin quiet and cozy?

how's it ride? how does it take speed bumps, train tracks, crappy roads littered with potholes?

I don't think there's any NON lifted XJ's that ride like a dream, your never going to get a plush ride out of a solid axle vehicle.

I got sick of driving a damn pogo stick. I'm pretty happy with the ride I have now. 5.5" Rock krawler front coils, long arms, and track bar with drop mount and drop pitman arm, RE 3.5" leaf springs, JKS 1" shackles, liquid iron industries shackle relocation brackets, h&t SYE, and bilsteins on all four corners. I'll be going to an OTK steering setup shortly.

Does it ride like a cadi? No. But at least I'm not bouncing all over the damn road.

I'm chasing a nicer ride and a quieter cab on my 99, it's my DD.

Plans for suspension:

OME 1.5" coils (have those) with a spacer to get to about 2.5"
WJ Lower Control Arms, they have bushings that are supposed to reduce noise, harshness, vibration
Make a bastard pack from 2 XJ packs, get .5-1" lift from it.
Shackle relocators and extended shackles
Bilstein 5100s all around
235/70/16 tires

Hopefully all that will result in a nice-ish ride.

As for noise reduction I have a few plans. I need to patch a hole or two in the floor before winter hopefully. So I'm going to make some homebrew roll on insulation (here's a link for that in the first post Here), and add some dynamat in places.

I know it won't be a cadillac but I want to polish my turd. Hope that helps.

i'm not looking for the ride of a 2014 cadillac. I know that's impossible. but for once I'd like to have someone who's never ridden in my jeep before not say "why's it so bumpy?" or "is something going to break?"

so, rides like a dream FOR AN XJ

mine rides pretty darn smooth and smoother with the sway bar disconnected..I am old and have a bad back. I almost went with a OME set up but went with Re super flex with JKS arms and rancho 9000 XL's on the softest setting...now it is no Cadillac nor will any soild axle set up be but it is way better then my friends XJ with a rough country set up with fixed arms and bilstiens.

sounds nice. i also want to do something about my steering. i feel like a large part of my front end ride is my sloppy steering. it's fine on a smoothe road but bumps set it off

nice, should ride real nice if you're keeping it that low. i already have OME springs on the front too, but they're the only nice piece of my suspension. they make a huge difference by themselves.

Stock HD coils, 2" spacers, rear bastard pack of XJ leafs with Ranger 2nd leaf from payload B, stock shackles, JK Sahara shocks. Very smooth ride, 2.5" lift and good flex.
Sound deadening in rear hatch area made a huge difference.

a lot of people say their rough country lifted jeep rides better than stock, but theyre lying. the best ride will come from an old man emu lift... shocks and springs.

My RE lift with Upper and lower Teraflex adjustable arms , Bilstein 5100 shocks and all new bushings rides great. I've ridden in a RC equipped Jeep then got back in mine. Mine is smoother offroad then a RC lift is on a freshly paved road.
