Mine has a 2007 vintage RC 3.5 lift and it rides like freaking butter. Even with blocks in the rear. Everyone who has rode in it has been floored by it. It is rougher in the rear because of the blocks and flat springs of course, but not bad honestly. Think I'm going to bastard pack to keep a soft ride get rid of the block.
I'm not sure if it still has the RC shocks or not. They are plain write with black boots. Look like cheap pro-comps. And the springs are grey... Heck all i know is the arms are rough country.. Bonus for buying a used Jeep.

long arm made a HUGE difference than the shocks made another great upgrade...

2" BB and pretty nice ride .
How about getting a ZJ? It would be my first choise if I was looking for a DD that rides like a dream when lifted, and roomy enough for the family.

either a linked rear or a good set of leaf springs with a 30-40 degree shackle angle would probably do it, along with good shocks. All the terrible ride quality of all the XJs I've dealt with was from the rear

also comes down to tire/ wheel selection. you going with more of an aggresive tire or something thats smoother on the road. also how wide of tire / wheel you go with and psi you run at.

My Zone 3" with nitro shocks rides like a pogo, I look at my shackle angle... I'm at like 80* LOL.

mine rides pretty smooth at just under 8 inches.
but there are many rattles from the dash/console as i don't have all the screws holding the plastics in tightly.
and then there's the road noise because of no carpet.
