i'm glad to hear that. we've been driving him around in the lady's parents' expedition which i'm sure rides something like a tahoe and it's super smooth

Mine is almost vertical. Even with fairly stiff coils up front, the front glides over bumps and the rear tears my spine in half if I hit a pebble at more than 10mph

I did everything to make my 4.5" lift run smooth. shackle relocation, full leaf packs, bilsteins, etc.
and I cried out, why god, why can nothing make these short arms ride better! then I got long arms...
and angels sang out.. in an immaculate chorus.. and down from the heavens..

haha, love this
Using my tax return this year to do steering, a few mechanical things, and hopefully long arms.. I'd be so happy to see chuck sitting shotty as I cruise over speed bumps

I have long arms and relocation brackets in rear. Back end glides over everything. Front does unless it's a sudden bump then it has the mysterious clunk

I think the shocks you choose have the biggest impact on ride quality (on road). I have Bilstein 5125s and they made it SOOO much better than any of the others I have had (Skyjacker nitro white tubes, Rough Country 2.2s, DoechTech) I will say that my father has King shocks on his JK and that thing rides phenomenally well. The IRO 6.5 long arm is also a vast improvement over some of the other setups Ive had. The currie steering is much solider than the Rustys.
Ive always wondered what the "foam cell" shocks on some of the Australian lift companies (Tough Dog, Iron Man etc) would feel like but there is no way I am going to pay 2000+ for a 1.75" lift lol.
I might give these 6-pack shocks a shot someday but for now they are too expensive- great reviews via JK forum though. Pretty cool idea- not so much for the ride quality but the extra travel they give you http://www.metalcloak.com/MetalCloak...hock-s/229.htm

I have RE 3.5" lift with full leaf packs. I installed no lift shackle relocation brackets with 2" lift shackles. I set the shackle at a 45 deg angle (holes furthest forward in shackle box). It was a little higher in the rear so I leveled it out in front with 1/2" coil spacers. Bilstein 5100 shocks. It has a nice ride.

6.5" RC lift and after about 4k miles it relaxed a little and now rides real good. Nice enough that I parked my King Ranch and daily drive the XJ. The lift now has 10k on it and so far no issues. I know other members here haven't been happy with their RC lifts, but I guess I'm an exception. It's been to CO 3 times now and drove great on all three road trips.

Glad this came up as I have been chasing this dream.
I also started with zone 3", nitros and aal. I have added HDoffroad shackle relocators, built a bastard pack, put Rocky Road drop brackets on front and a 1" spacer, IRO dbl shear track bar and really I am still disappointed in its overall ride. I plan on trying different shocks next and see what the truth about good shocks is in regards to overall ride. Also going to try no sway bar on the road and feel that out. I really think the zone stuff, though decent quality is just too stiff. I can take big bumps fairly well but when it comes to the small little stuff on the highway youd think you were in a lowrider not on air or a dumptruck.
Longarms is likely the best way to go because of the added leverage it gives to cycle your front suspension.
Just thought Id share my exp and maybe save some others from chasing this dream using bandaids.
Future plans if shocks dont improve it much is progressive front coils and quality rear leafs.

Uniroyal Laredo all season 31x10.5 got them used for 100$ and been on for 15 months and still good shape. That being said I dont see anyone asking for a Cadillac ride but just accepting the ride because trucks are rough is just giving in. It may take a lot of money and maybe even a custom fabd setup but it doesnt just have to be that way. The correct spring rate for vehicle weight, shocks valved to fit the application and suspension components designed well like good longarms and it doesnt have to ride like a truck. In my head I am thinking along the lines of a desert runner/prerunner type setup would ride nice.
It is all relative and subjective. Is there an off the shelf solution that does this? Not sure but it doesnt have to just ride that way because.
