Snowball effect. Origionally bought it for a commuter and fishing cruiser. Then joined a jeep club, and it went downhill from there. Planned a trip to moab, and my credit card began screaming for mercy.

Roni that looks really nice and ready for the rocks and trails you can tell it's not a Mall Crawler for sure, because we all know what happens to the body's off road can't be helped at times.
Put your money in things that get you there and back again, "chrome won't get you home"!

Went wheeling with a buddy and his TJ once up at Rausch Creek ORV here in PA. I was only his passenger, but none the less the virus had infected me.
That night I immediately began scouring the internet for everything Jeep. I already owned a F-250 at the time and I was sadden by the wrangler "tax". Really, this jeep would tertiary vehicle. So I didn't want to spend a ton of money. Then, salvation. I stumbled across the XJ. I had saw a bunch of guys and gals driving lifted ones around town. The price point was right and I actually liked their look more than the wranglers. So I saved all my overtime for almost 6 months. I finally found one for a good price on Craigslist and picked it up.
I liked my XJ so much I actually sold my F-250 and never regretted it. Now it is my secondary vehicle! Love every minute of owning my Jeep!

Repairs. I bought my XJ because I needed a good 4X4 for winter driving. All my "building" has been based on necessity. I'm of the opinion that when it's time to fix something to upgrade it if possible. Internal slave went kaput? Convert to external! Stock suspension shot? Time to lift! That's how I justify my "mods" to the wife. Now, if I can convince her that bigger tires are "necessary"...

Grew up going on trips with my dad in his Jeeps (CJ5, Willeys 4 door and finally the Wagoneer Woody) but when I got my license I went muscle cars until life's responsibilities caught up to me. Just going back to being a kid again before it's too late.
