I baught a mildly built xj because I got pissed off when I went to best buy with my YJ on 35s and the TV I was buying didnt fit in the back. So I had to call my friend with a minivan and wait for 2 hrs. At that point I asked myself why I even have this thing. Its no better offroad , has no ac and I never, never take the top off. So I sold it that week and baught a mildly lifted xj. Back then the Jeep was my only car so the Xj made most sense. If I was to buy anything offroad today I wouldnt care what it was as I dont need it to drive on the road very often anymore. I would buy the most capable rig in my price range with 4doors and a hatch to pick up an ocasional oversized purchase.(which by the way might be an XJ)

I bought my XJ because the back seat lays flat for baby making practice.

I bought my Xj for $1300 with a lift, odd ball 33's, no brakes and death wobble. I had at the time a 2000 TJ that I bought bone stock and lifted it and added all kinds of after market goodies. Well, the TJ was a 2.5 that regeared to 4.56 and once I got the XJ road worthy, there was no comaprison for me. The power of the 4.0 and the great extra room that I had was awesome. So I sold the TJ and the only regrer that I have is that I miss those top off sunny days of wheeling.

Now I have a 76 Cj project to work on in my spare time. I like the old classics and the body style of the CJ's myself. So once that is done and road worthy I hope to have the best of both worlds!

Before I bought my TJ I owned a 99 Tacoma that I bought stock and then lifted it to 13" and 40" tires. When I would get the off-road mags in the mail I would always see Jeeps. I kept saying "does anyone else in this world build anything besides Jeeps"? Well, look at me now and I don't regret owning any of them!

This applies to most any Jeep, haha

Ha.. meaning family friendly... I can still pack the family in easily, have a nice quiet (less wind noise at least) ride with the a/c on.

I can't blame a Jeep for being a money pit... any damn car I have I'm always finding ways to put money into it.... It's always suspension, wheels and tires, exhaust, performance upgrades.

[QUOTE="salad;2680900"]I bought my XJ because: I love the look both stock and lifted Easy to work on Price is right Decent cargo room, especially with the seat folded down Gets me where I want to go and where I need to go Always wanted a Jeep Learned how to drive a stick offroader for extra manliness cred. My beard has become more lush since I purchased my XJ. In fact I have two XJs, one originally for parts but m'lady has laid claim. Guess I'll need a new parts Jeep lol. Future plans do include owning a classic-style Jeep, such as a CJ, YJ, or TJ. 42REs come to mind.[/QUOTE

like the converted yj/xx posts, makes perfect sense especially if this is your only vehicle there is no way I could function in a jeep/jeep.. no room for anything !!!! I can imagine the frustration buying a TV only having to wait for someone to pick up and deliver, kinda like "only" owning a motorcycle... nearly impossible to function with daily mundane tasks....

I sometimes tell my kids daddy's gonna give them a ride to school in the jeep and in its current state they shudder at the thought and though we've only been out on a handful of mild trails since I've owned it, its making lasting memories...

In fact I know its a keeper as the bond is growing each time I progress with the little bit of work I put into her.. Maybe when I'm done doing all that I want to with her I may pass her on, we'll see... Seems every car I've brought to where I want it to be, I sell it..

My first car was an xj, and that think could climb!! My third car is an xj and now it's our rock climber. My current is a 99 sport with a new Chrysler 4.0 with 10,000 miles, for 3 grand!! Plus my cherokees have never broken down on me!! Unlike my other cars.....

yes sir.. the front end had some underlying damage that had been covered up... so I replaced all that, along with the cowl, had major peeling on hood and the PO decided to prime right over it so I had to completely sand to metal.. Yesterday I removed the side moldings, I thought I like the look without but now I'm unsure ..

I've already bought the paint and clear in PX8, I have maybe 1 full day of prep left to do then I can wash it, mask it and shoot it... Course I'm licking my wounds from a knee surgery last week so I just try to do little things to move forward, and stimulate my drug induced mind

I was in the market for a small SUV. I always wanted a CJ when I was younger but I have wife and kids, so I needed more room than a CJ has. The price was alright and my first XJ was one of the most dependable vehicles that I had owned until my daughter totaled it. I love my XJ and can't imagine ever not having one now. I still have my full-size PU for the heavy hauling ('76 Dodge Power Wagon) but my dd is my XJ.

Hehehe. Yeah, among hundreds of other things that wouldn't fit in the wrangler over the time I had it. I guess that was the last straw. Even the family dog couldnt come with us, he wouldnt fit behind the back seat.

LMAO, no dog, no deal....one of the main reasons to own a jeep IMHO, so the dog can ride shotgun...
