Thanks again! I'm slowly getting it. To do it the right way takes some education. When I was much younger and in high school, we would just put a body lift on for $30 bucks and put as large a tire as we could afford. The guy with the tallest tires was the coolest! LOL, that was in the 80's, now things are different, I can afford to do it the right way. All the information you guys are writing has been a big help in understanding it all.

I really think a 3" lift looks great on an xj, and can be very capable. I went from a 3" to a 4.5" and have had to do major modding. It's been quite the pain lol.

Everyone hit the nail on the head. I was new to XJ's & wheelin 2 years ago. I didn't know what I needed or even what I wanted. All I can suggest is do your home work and listen to experienced people. My Jeep is at 3.5 w/ 33's and trimmed fenders. There's still alot I want to do to mine.

I personally am going 3" and 31s and no bigger..yeah I know never say never. But for the wheeling I do that will be perfect, and it makes the harder stuff more challenging and fun too.

Of course it depends on what you want your lift for, looks or for more tire clearance. Take the stock XJ out and see how it does, you will be very surprised at its capabilities even stock.
