Why do so many feel like their XJ gets bad gas mileage?

I daily drive a 86 chevy 1 ton 454 4x4 lets just say the oil companies send me christmas cards.The gas mileage of a xj is pretty good for a real 4x4 tho,My brothers 01 f150 4x4 gets 11mpg my friends 4 banger wrangler gets about 14mpg and is gutless too.

Yeah I average 15mpg back and forth to work which is 40mi roundtrip through the mountains with 32x11.50x15s so I consider myself lucky. If I was one of the ones getting 8, 9, 10 mpg etc I would sell the XJ. Period.
