Grew up in XJs, our first was an '87 pioneer, mom drove it until she hit a telephone pole. Sold it (the guy fixed and drove it for years) and bought the 95 we have now...194k later it was mine, did some work to it, lifted it and now it will go wherever I need to, has enough room, hauls my other toys. And the gas isn't as bad as the F150. I grew up in XJs and will always have one.

Had an 89 mj when I was 19, and beat the ever loving **** out of it for two solid years and it never gave me grief. Found my current xj, 2 door 5spd, for $200...I've had fast imports, ****ty sedans, full size trucks, and econoboxes...just can't beat the overall functionality, reliability, cost of parts, ease of ownership...provided you know a thing or two about turning wrenches!

i always wanted a big truck but with gas and pricing out which was better to lift and parts i went with a Cherokee bc wranglers are priced way to high just bc its a wrangler and pick ups are just way to much work. they need to come back with the cherokee not all the bs fancy yuppie cars like the compass and the commander, patriot jeep just stick to wranglers and cherokees and that would be amazing

I wanted something that could haul my stuff and be capable in a northern MN winter. Honestly got it on a whim when I traded my auto-x car for it, rather than sell it outright and shop around for something like an XJ.

Going to Moab growing up in our FSJ 1976 Cherokee, I said I wanted a Cherokee when I grew up.
Then I got one
Big enough for a family + gear, has AC, has a decent long-ish wheelbase, has a ton of aftermarket support, and I just like the look of em!

So every weekend the local 4x4 group made up of mostly jeeps and toyota that im in get together and hit the trails and have some good fun. Well the question got brung up to me and a few other xj guys. Why do you drive a cherokee and not a toyota or wrangler. Here was our answer its all in the names why would you wanna drive some thing with the word TOY in it unless you were a child and who wants to drive something that sounds like you have to fight it (wrangler)

- needed something to pull my 97 eclipse gsx to the track
- after i totalled the gsx, little cars began to scare me
- they're a more than capable hunting rig
