what i love is, let's say I'm in a parking lot looking under the hood or under the jeep itself, from experience 8 times out of 10 i'll have at least one person come up to me and start a conversation with either "oh yeah I've had one of those 20 years ago ..." or like you said "why do you still drive this, aren't the floors all rotted and costs an arm to fix everything wrong with it???" and they soon learn how basic maintenance is everything for those vehicles.

the purpose of my jeep ownership coincides with availability, ability, and simple nature. as aforementioned, interpretation of such is subjective. i love it for what it is, but that requires a scrutinous eye. utility and durability win for the xj.

10k for an xj is considered gold imo. My question and my thread title is paying homage towards a thread here a few months back titled "people who think their XJ is gold" where people posted links to xjs for sale and the sellers asking 10k or more. If you got 10k for your xj you would think you hit the lottery, I know I would.

And when you say you tell people about your jeep alot and why you drive it and then they seem to want one. Perhaps the only knowledge the questioner has is the info you provided. They then head to craigslist, see xjs listed for 8k or more and think that's the going price and it seems reasonable considering how you explained to them how great they are. They buy it not knowing they over spent. Of course this is just speculation, but I do think it's reasonable to assume that people that know nothing about the XJ are driving the price up now because "jeeps are cool" or they see a nice lifted one and want one.

Plenty of people are buying any type of jeep now just for that certain "status" that comes with owning an older jeep. It's weird but I'm seeing it all over. My friend has a TJ and he is noticing an increase in volume at his forum in the amount of people thatv start threads basically aski nf amount bout their jeep after they just bought it. I can't thinkof a comparison for cars, but it seems like older model jeeps are the SUVs to own. Everyone wants one now.

Aye Yi Yi

If it's about the money you need to find another hobby and buy a Civic or Corolla.

Where in the thread does it say that we want more money? The question was if it ever would be worth money based on current trends that are happening hahah just a very interesting question considering there are alot of people that actually think that now.

I liked it better when less people appreciated the true awesomeness of the XJ. Go 'head, make fun of my station wagon lol.
