I'm gonna be honest with you and myself. I'm not gonna get around to doing this myself and if I did it would not turn out as good as yours. I do not have the resources, place, or experience. What would be your price to fabricate one of these in 2-3 months? Would you be willing to do something like that?

Hey stitch, I'm back. just lookn at the rack some more and pondering ideas. was wondering what you used for the front lower mount. It looks kinda like a gutter or something. I'm assuming from the pictures you didnt do that part in round piping. Also how did you put together the. Light mounts on the front? Is that flat also? It looks kinda like two round pipes together. Just trying to go off what I see in your pictures.

Smdirtrider,

I drilled two new mounts to extend the roof rack anchors above front seats. If I were to do it again I would skip these two mounts. I also made gutter mounts and used the original roof rack anchors.

Light mounts I sandwiched two tubes next to each other. Take your time here and really make sure this is where you want your lights. Ie. spacing/centering, height, size and shape. The angle will depend on the light you choose.

Hope this helps.

Ok, so after all this time, building is about to commence. Haha should be starting in about a week once supplies come in.

Had a few more questions for you real quick. How tall is the railing and what was the purpose of the clamps on the gutter rail? If its bolted down wouldnt that be enough? Just wondering.

Hey, great to hear you're going to build it. The top rail is 5" from mounting plate to center of the top rail. The middle rail is 2" from top center to center.

The gutter mounts and the OEM rack mounts do you need booth? I wanted them. Gives it a solid feel when you shake the vehicle from the rack. Does not give at all, very solid. For the little weight vs benefit do both. Very easy to make.

Most stress will be side to side(stopping and going) so you may not need booth. But, the added weight of a High-Lift and a few field tools and coolers, lights, tire and what ever else you throw up there it's not going anywhere.

Do you have a tube cutter or a grinder?

That makes since. I just didnt know for sure if it was a necessity or not. It does sound like a good idea tho. I will probly end up doing that as well.

I found a neighbor to help me with this project. He is a welder amd has all the stuff. We had to order a dye for the correct size pipe. Once its all in we can begin. If I have enough funds I may try to weld on some frsme stiffeners while we are at it. Once we have it all put together ill post some photos up of it. make sure your getn credit for the idea also
