the handlers probably thought it wasn't gonna break if they tossed it around. little did they know there was (supposed to be) a parts kit included in that box that probable just disintegrated from the awkward heavy bumper.
i mean, it's not like it was wrapped up on a skid so it wouldn't need to be handbombed.
just like a box that says "fragile", the handlers just toss those around under their smirks and giggles. lol.
it probably goes through 5 or 6 hands before it gets to your door.
hope your new bumper arrives with a little less drama and it gets put on to bounce off a few trees before the end of the wheeling season.

What ticked me off was that somewhere along the way, someone knew they messed up and they just didn't care. The nut strips & fender armor didn't just disappear. The box busted apart along with all of it's contents and no one bothered to collect everything or contact me or Morris. That's a subpar job.
You make a mistake and you own up to it. You call the retailer or customer and explain what happened. No biggie, things can be replaced. But the key is owning up to it. Mistakes are ok, but passing your mistake onto someone else without fixing it is inexcusable.

clearly I missed the missing parts blurb. what's asinine is shipping an entire bumper back to get some bolts and brackets that would fit in a shoebox. and the point being made was indeed this stuff happens all the time, if everyone made a thread of their shipping woes this place would be full of them.

Yeah and it's incredibly heavy, so it's going to get dropped. I don't mind mistakes. Mistakes are human. How can I get mad at something that's in our nature?

The item is coated. If he bangs it up, then fine. He paid for new, in new condition, he should send it back.
The company that shipped it should pay for the damage, or at very least the shipping, and if enough of that happens, then it will get better.
The company that made the bumper should choose to go with a different carrier if this happens often enough.

So?

So what you are saying is that if he buys a Dozen Eggs and gets home to find that there are only 9 in the carton it's cool even though he paid for a dozen?
Now you are going to say it was his fault for not looking first? Well he didn't have that option in this matter and someone paid big bucks to have it shipped intact.
What I see is you defending the Chicken Union even though they lost three of the 12 Eggs they promised and he paid for.

I didn't ask Morris to do that, it's their policy. When I asked about it, I was told they ship units that are damaged or missing parts back to Smittybilt. I even asked to keep the tire carrier and was told I couldn't, everything would need to be shipped back because they were going to send me an entire new unit.
This is something retailers do on a fairly regular basis because it gives them leverage when negotiating shipping rates with big companies. They can present a list of all the cases over the length of their previous contract that shows how often items they shipped were lost/damaged/had missing parts. They use that leverage to keep prices low for their customers.
So at this point, it seems like you're upset that Morris is going above and beyond what is expected of them to ensure that they do everything they possibly can to help out their customers & keep their prices low.
I made this post with the intent of telling everyone how impressed I was with Morris while showing the laughable excuse for shipping FedEx concocted and placed at my doorstep. You didn't have to comment. You still don't have to comment. It's bizarre to me how personally you're taking all of this.

I for one am glad you posted for several reasons.
One is for the vendor Morris and what a great job they did in handling the problem as you spoke to them. A Christian based owner that treats customers right.
I have done business with them many times and received the same service on a dropped pitman arm I mistakenly ordered the wrong one they did the same thing for me sent another with a return shipping label in the box.
The other is the $hitty service we get from all the shippers with destroyed items, lost and lousy delivery of the item, like just throwing the item on the deck or sidewalk and leaving. Never even ringing the door bell nothing throw it down and run.
For instance 2 months ago I received one of my prescriptions of many I take. This one came from a CVS out of state as only a very few pharmacies can even stock it. It was 30 caps in a small plastic bottle wrapped in bubble wrap inside a bubble envelope. They just leave it at the front door here in the country under a covered front concrete/brick deck this time the package was torn and had black marks on the package. When I opened the package and bubble wrap the bottle was broken and about 50% of the caps were crushed.
I took photos of the package and contents then sent it to CVS as I needed the meds and they contacted the shipper. Everyone was quite upset over this as those 30 caps cost $6400 a month and from the looks of it the package had been ran over somewhere. I wish that could think that it would not happen again but I'm not that foolish.

I have had 2 bad experiences with Morris 4x4 and wont shop through them again. Yes it was cheap, but it took them 2 weeks to process my order with no response, no email, no order confirmation or proof of shipping. I asked for a tracking order...never got one and was passed around employees like an office stapler. My packages(lift kit) arrived a week late, and i still never received a tracking number. One box came UPS and the other box came fedex. My lift kit was shipped in wto different boxes at two different times. Kind of hard to install a kit when it doesn't arrive all together. The second experience was the same thing in shipping. No tracking number, yet i placed phone calls and email and the part arrived a week late.

When I bought my bumper it literally came to my door as is. Shipping sticker was taped to it. No bubble wrap, Box or anything. That being said, it was just the bumper. No hardware. I'm with op. I'd send it back if it didn't come exactly right. It's just business. You buy something... it should be right.

This is by far an exception for them, I have never had any service like that from them over the last 4 yrs. and can't remember seeing any posts like yours before. But I guess things can happen but usually NEVER twice.

And that's crazy about the prescriptions. I guess it's like any job, some people are lazy or just don't care about how what they might do will effect someone else.

I use to have a ups driver that hated and was happy when they was replaced. She wouldn't come in my fenced in front yard she would sit out front of my house blowing the horn for 5 sec before taking off.The last things i got with her was a pc case and a box of pc parts she begged me to get it off the truck for her because its heavy,Really each box was only 30lbs if you can't carry that maybe you need to change jobs.
