NEVER litter.
pack in, pack out. bring the food in your xj, bring the scraps/garbage out IN your xj, and find the nearest garbage.
on that same token, don't leave garbage in the xj for an extended period of time. the only strange smells in the jeep should come from that swamp mud you perhaps played in the other day

As far as filters, Mopars are by far the best. Fram is not a very high quality filter. Mopar filters aren't even much more expensive than the ****ty Fram ones. Why not spend the extra buck or two to get the best.

what about amsoil synth and filters. i got a buddy that sells it and my dad has used it for years now. changes his filter every 15000 miles (not a typo) and his fluid every 30000. or the other way around. i dunno.

Go down this one damn trail that ends with a huge rock that nothing short of a Highly lifted vehicle will cross. The trail leading up to it looks and drives like any normal trail but everyone that drives down it ends up with something breaking the next day. It's almost like this trail is cursed or something!

no Fram's for me. my pops is a semi mechanic, and throughout the years I've heard more swearing about fram crap than I needed to, and done more research on it than you can shake a stick at.
bottom line, a cheapo parts master is better filtration wise than a fram.
the absolute best filter is running a genuine mopar filter for your xj...they have great filtration, and an excellent back-pressure valve to keep your valve train lubed up.
that means less engine ticking on startup, because the oil doesn't leak out of your lifters etc. I have a motor that sat for two years, and is still lubed in that area.

go wheeling with no recovery points.
go wheeling alone with no recovery gear.
go wheeling with a spare tire that is not sized to your runners.
put off routine maintence.
install a lift kit before you install armor (provided you are going to use the lift for it's intended purpose).
attempt an unfamiliar water crossing without checking it out.
install lift, armour, big tires and run junk brakes.

ha ha i did this but when i was going forward and i could not see this rock that was just big enough to put a small bend in me tie rod and **** me off now i either have to try to bend it back or get some more dom and build a new one

A lifted XJ is going to get you into places where you're going to need, or wish you had armor. I've met several folks running lifted rig's with no armour, that are held back to 'unchallenging' terrain on account of not having armour... on the other hand a budget boost and armoured XJ can run some pretty dang rugged terrain.
I suppose there are two schools of thought here...
One being folks that buy armour yet never intend on 'using' it...
The other being folks that buy armour and use it as tools to enhance the capabilities of the rig.

first off.. learn how to spell ARMOR if you gonna talk about it..
second off.. armor is expensive and most ppl cant go out and buy a lift, tires, rims, armor and everything at once.. kinda expensive if you didnt notice

i have been thinking about building my own transfer skid out of some 3/8 or 1/4 from the cross member to the unibody rail it would be a lot cheaper then buying it and you can make it how ever wide or long you want just need to figure out the bends

thats a good idea. i may have to look into that. i personally dont think that skids are worh 140-300 dollars
