Default would you trade???

so i was working at my shop on some bumpers and asked my buddy if he would trade his 2002 wrx for my 2000 xj, and he said, hell yes!!

i wont throw out my reasoning for it, but would like to know if you guys would do it.

short description of my jeep
2000 2 door xj
198k miles
hp d44 front-full width, custom truss and steering
ford 9 inch rear-full width
5-35'' mtrs
7 inch high clearance long arm lift(pretty new)
CAI
HUDFAB tube bumpers front and rear(not in pic)
HUDFAB sliders

short list on wrx
2002 subaru impreza wrx
119k
aftermarket BOV
aftermarket boost guage
cat back exhaust

i will have another jeep, shortly after i do the trade, if i do it.......

Hell no i would not trade that is the cleanest/nicest looking 2 Door i have ever see. Post some pics of the WRX but from what you are saying, the trade would not even be something i would think about.

I'm not sure how you'd get on moving from an XJ to Subaru... one needs roads and one doesn't.

If I dropped as much money as you did in your rig I wouldn't trade it off for an almost stock WRX.

Unless you are unhappy with your rig I couldn't think of why it would be a consideration. I would save up and buy a used WRX if I were you.

whoa guys! haha, im not a subaru person!! but i diagree with the statement about one being onroad and one being offroad vehicles. i used to take my old 96 turbo impreza offroad all the time!

i should explain my reasoning here. i just fell into some financial problems and would sell the wrx pretty soon after getting it. blue book on mine is $3,500, and $9,000 on the wrx. (either way, the xj is prob gonna have to go)

i have only $4850 into my jeep with purchase, cuz i build my own junk....and i could maybe get $6500 for it. i have also owned 30+ xjs, so its not like im super attatched like most of you are to your jeeps. i could also build two of my jeeps for what i can sell the wrx for.

maybe some of you didnt notice at the end, i said i would be buying another jeep shortly after.

however, i do agree that i have built one sick xj here.....but its not even close to done.....and not as clean as it looks.

fyi....the bugeye wrx is my favorite out of all of them.

Since you posted this question on a cherokee forum....you are obviously going to get bias answers.

If you reasoning is resale value, then yes, you should probably do it. You are probably right that you could get more for the WRX than the cherokee seeing cherokee's are a dime a dozen. Although yours is very clean, it probably will not bring in as much $$ as the subaru.

In the end, its all your call though.

Not only am I looking at resale value, I'm looking at the fact that there is a bigger market for a slighlty modded wrx than a full width xj!

Id do it in a heartbeat! XJ's are a dime a dozen and SUPER cheap & easy to build. The WRX is worth a crap-load more to a hell of a lot more people. You gotta find the right person to take the XJ off your hands. Id do it without thinking twice. Me personally, Id keep the WRX and buy another XJ (a 96-99) on the cheap and build it.

But if youre doing this solely to resell and buy another XJ, it makes absolutely no sense to NOT do it. Dont listen to the guys who treat their Jeeps better than their girlfriends, they dont see anything past "Should I trade my XJ for a WRX?"
