Default XJ accessory question

Im trying to find information about this jeep accessory I picked out of the junkyard over the weekend. All I can find on it is clearly it says Jeep and in the inside of the top lid it says made in Canada. If anyone has any information on this accessory that would be greatly appreciated. I searched online and could find nothing. More specifically i'd like to know if this was an official jeep offered accessory, or if this was an aftermarket accessory and possibly who made it.

It was an accessory offered by Jeep that you could buy through their Dealerships.
To the best of my knowledge it was used to hold the 6 CD Changer that you could also buy through them.

My Jeep had this in there when I bought her.
Too bad it wasn't Camel so it would match.
Not that you can't use it just for storage. LOL.

Finding camel interior parts is difficult enough, all of the ones in my junkyard are gray. Knowing now that it was for a CD changer explains the wiring that was going to it, it was like an old microphone cable. Im thinking i might pait it with the plastic and vinyl paint to match my interior, and im glad to see one in camel, because i was thinking about keeping the latches black and it looks like that is how it came in tan. I may not even use it, i had just never seen one, and the junkyard only wanted $7.00 for it, and i thought it would make a good place to keep a tool roll or maybe an air compressor set up at a later date.

IMO you will never match the Camel. But if you do manage too I would love to know what you use.
I think, think being the operative word, that if this were me I would paint it black.
Anyway let's put it this way. $7 was a steal.
Find the right person and there is a good chance you could get $250, maybe even more, for that on Ebay.
And charge for shipping on top of that. LOL.

definitely will keep my eyes out for one too... would be nice to turn that little otherwise useless cubby into usable storage. Even if it's just for a few small things.
