Do you think this problem could be intermittent? Mine only does it for a few seconds every few days. And if I put it in neutral and pump the gas a few times - it clears right up. Sometimes even still in gear I can pump the gas a few times and take off smooth again.

Good point! <g> I forgot to mention that it happens with the tank full. <g>
Kind of proud of those pumps, aren't they? I saw an OEM one online for $203.
And the fuel pump looks electric and in-the-tank from the picture. Is there a hole in the floor or do I have to drop the tank?

UPDATE:
(woo!)
-CPS was dead (currently getting fixed)
Opted out on the following:
-Fuel injectors 3 & 4 need to be replaced
-Front drive shaft/U joint (need to research and educate myself on this)
Things I already knew:
-Oil leaks (they weren't able to find out from where)
-Bad NSS
-Cracked manifold
-My air filter is half covered by what I'm assuming is oil.

In keeping with your OP comments: just have them remove the front driveshaft and drive with 2WD only while you travel towards a better funded future.
I don't know how much do yourself - but you can always degrease / wash the engine well, wait until it dries completely, and then dust it all with flour or talcum powder. Afterwards start and run the engine while you inspect for leaks. They will be immediately obvious.

Update 2:
i got a call when the shop closed saying my car was ready... but when they pulled it out to park it, it wasn't running smoothly.
I picked it up, and it's "running"
It still has the horrible chug during what feels like first gear. I slam on the gas and it's fine, as long as I keep it in a higher gear. The gas smell is now pretty rich.
I was looking as the Jeep as my friend was on the gas, and I didn't see any fluids spewing.
Hmm...
Tomorrow I plan on looking at my injectors, and maybe look into the TPS.
Or y'all could be very right about the fuel pump!

Tomorrow, I'll definitely look into it. I talked with PV today and I am going to attempt to stop by and talk with Bill.
I want to be able to keep this to keep this Jeep for a good long time, but it'll be a long journey... but worth it.

Given my XJs condition when I picked it up, that's a must.

How easy does it start? My only issue was it was hard to start. The only time the pump was a real issue was when it got hot on the trail. Other wise it never gave me any issues.( beside the issue starting) Mine you it has not been very hot and I've only had the jeep a few month.
You will I'll have to drop the tank to replace it, it was not fun. Have someone help you and drain ALL of the fuel out. You can do it your self but it would be easier with someone to help you.
