I don't wanna go to 33's and 6.5 and then want 8.5 and 35's. I will not go higher then 8.5. I just want opinions from other xj members on they like. if i do go this high of a lift it will be BDS-Suspension lift.
I WILL NOT cut anymore of the body, only as much as I had to for the bushwackers.

Currently, I don't have the tire desired I want, but with my lift I have a good amount of articulation for a short arm lift and stock uppers surprisingly.

My plans I have laid out so far:
Rear ford 8.8, 4.10 gears all round and locked in rear. 33" KM2 on 6.5" BDS long arm suspension, and build the front dana 30, Rock-trac transfer case conversion swap, rockcrawler front steering conversion (or teraflex high steer system). I just dunno how high to go haha! Cowl hood, When the motor is rebulilt it will either be a supercharged 4.0, or a 4.5 Stroker. So much to play with.
Didn't see anyone say it. IMO if you want to go 35s, you'll need 4.56s or 4.88s. I'm running 35s w/4.56s and I think 4.88s would be supreme with them. Some may disagree

I'm sitting at about 6.5 and have 35s and its just right.

I was going to ask about that, my friend has 35's automatic and 4.10s and he loves them, and i seen a 5 speed manual with 38's and 4.10s and he loves those lol.

Mine is manual. I was gonna ask about the 4.56 gears. Do you lose any of your highway speed? does it run at a lot higher rpm with 4.56? Ideally 4.56 would be awesome because then if im on a slant I wouldn't have to ride the clutch as much haha that's how I went through my first clutch.. 32" TSL, 3.07 gears, and wheeling

I am running 35s and 3.50 gears. I have a lot of transfercase reduction, so off road is no issue. On road, it is not too bad. On most any incline, I am downshifting to 4th. On steeper ones, down to 3rd.
I think you would be very pleased with 4.56 all around with 35s. While you are running at higher RPM on the freeway (2000 @ 70 on 3.50, probably 2600-2700 @ 4.56), the MPG is pretty much a wash from what I have read. The lugging versus higher RPMs kind of cancel out. Plus you would be able to stay in 5th more often, have better offroad manners, and more pep in the city.

You will not "lose" any speed - if anything, you'll gain some. One catch is that your driveline is spinning a lot faster, so having it well balanced will be more important than ever.

They are required by law in Utah. I went without until I got pulled over for not having them and got a fix-it ticket. They are quick disconnect, so are easy to get out of the way come wheeling time.

I had 33s for quite a while on mine, and I thought they looked a little too small with 6.5" of lift and bushwackers. But it wasn't too bad. If I were you, I would just do the 35s now, since you want to go there anyway

Cool so I will go with the 8.8 axle swap 4.56 gears and 35's Sounds like a very good set up.

I been looking into lifts and I'm looking at the iron rok offroad and rustys lifts. they are both very affordable. and both have unique things about them that I like. I just have to decide on which one i WILL go with.

Back to the OP a kid around town has a 99 with a 10.5 inch lift on short arms IMO it doesnt serve him any purpose he runs 35s and i drove it with both sway bars connected and it drove like **** the body is all over the place and he almost flipped offroading almost everytime we go

Yeah, that sounds awesome

Whatever lift you go with, make sure you factor in the cost or savings of all the stuff it comes with. Some come with track bars, drop brackets, and shocks etc, and others don't. Keep it apples to apples where you can.
