Question xj long arm lifts

Hello all! i am relatively new to jeeps and even more so to working on cars. i recently bought an 01 cherokee all stock and am looking in to lifting it. based off of my research i have decided i want a long arm lift on it, and based off of reviews i have decided to go with the rubicon express 5.5 inch extreme duty lift.

i realize that the lift itself doesnt come with everything i will need to run it, like an SYE and shocks as well as some other things. My goal is to do the install myself with some friends, i have a full shop at my disposal as i am military and have a hobby shop right here on base.

so my question is: What things do i need to watch out for, what do i need to purchase outside of the lift to be ready to install the whole thing and drive it right after, and what problems have other people run into when doing this lift?

any help would be MUCH appreciated! Im sure there is a lot of stuff that i haven't taken into account because of my lack of knowledge and experience with this stuff, so if you could shed some light on these things that would be awesome.

(my plan is to run 35" tires with the kit)

THANKS!! any info helps.

A lift chart we all use https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/nk...-chart-211878/ it says you need this at this height lift. And with the 35s you need to regear the axles. This is the gear chart we use,Its set for a auto trans if you have a stick then go up a gear size http://jeeptalk.org/gear_chart.php

Awesome chart! simple and very straight forward. and i am aware that i will have to regear my axels, there is a pretty great youtube video a guy does on bleepinjeep that explains everything. Thanks for the help!

I have been thinking about that too. I'm thinking i wanna do an ox locker on both axles but i can't decide if i wanna do electric or cable. What do you think? I know next to nothing about electronics, so I'm leaning more towards a cable locker but i am open to being persuaded otherwise.

I say detroit locker rear and the front a arb or yukon zip locker both are air powered. The ox locker im not a fan of the design it uses a thick diff cover and has a fork that slides over.

On the front diff if its too thick it could case problems with the steering linkage hitting it at full lock to lock turning.
