Default XJ or WJ

Been searching for a Cherokee(or Grand) for a while now.I like the style of the WJ a little better than the XJ.On Edmunds I read consumer reviews on both and it seems that the WJ's had more negative reviews. Is there a reliability difference between the two?I keep hearing about blend doors--if I stay away from the Limiteds will that take care of that issue?Any years to steer clear of.Thanks for the help.

Get a ZJ and have the best of both Worlds.
With the ZJ you get good ground clearance like the XJ, but the comfort and room of the WJ. The WJ kind of lacks the ground clearance and ruggedness of the XJ. The ZJ meets them both right in the middle.

Cherokee has a more reliable engine and trans. Cheaper mods. Id say the only thing the wj has over the xj is styling and comfort

WJ all the way.

And from what I've heard from pros in the aftermarket world, WJ's are gearing up to be the next big craze.

WJ for comfort, but they also have better engines than zj, and have a good steering setup for wheeling. Kinda big though.

ZJ not as powerful V8, but good trade off of everything. Nice and comfy and better size for wheelin, but bad trannies in nearly all.

XJ, great engine, great tranny. Less comfy to and from trails, but probably most capable on the trail...

Tough choice. I was in the exact same boat as you. Got a great deal on an xj, but still like the zjs. Their acceleration and comfort does not compare w/wj though.

Any advice on the blend doors? Is the problem only with the auto climate controls or all of them?

Don't get all hung up on the problems that might happen, you'll never find what you're looking for.
