xjs on mythbusters
#31
I was watching this last night and thought about making a thread just like this lol. Its a shame they do that to such nice xj's, woulda thought they coulda found some more abused ones to smash.

the stupid part about the hellboy myth is in the movie it was a grand cherokee and they used xjs just because it was close enough and cheap... i think they should've used the grand cherokees instead.

The way they tested the Hellboy myth was stupid. Dropping a giant metal fist does not replicate what happened in the movie. Hellboy was planted firmly on the ground as he hit the car and therefore immediatley stopped the vehicle while pushing the front down. They would have gotten better results and saved a couple XJs if they had just tied a cable to the front and have it run underneath the vehicle so it would stop the vehicle and pull the front down. The fist dropping thing they tried was too unpredictable and all it did was destroy several perfectly good vehicles.

But I do think it was a GC, not an XJ in the Hellboy movie....if the mythbusters are so keen on staying as close to the myth as possible, why did they use the wrong vehicle. How many XJ's have the used this year alone? I've lost track, but in the Hellboy myth, they used like 4 or 5 I think. The first one was a VERY clean one too!! What a shame!
