Is your Cherokee your Daily Driver?
I'm looking to buy one, as my '02 Mercury Mountaineer has been problematic, and not really off road worthy. However I see so many threads about all kinds of issues with these... especially with over heating...

I have a '99 Cherokee. I use it as my everything car. It is my DD, off-road companion, delivery car for when my office needs me to deliver something, as well as numerous other uses. I have never had it over heat, and have not had any major issues with it. If you take care of it and do regular maintenance, you shouldn't have any issues.

Mine is a 00 XJ used as daily driver when it's not worthy to ride my scoot. The big thing is to research the year you are getting, each year has its ups and downs, but all in all, take care of it and it will take care of you.
I have the "0331" head (known for cracking after overheating), this weekend I'm doing a coolant system overhaul. Just trying to do preventative maintenance before I have problems. A lot of problems you find can be prevented.

I have a 1995 with 33s and over 260,ooo miles on the clock. I drive it ~25 miles each way to and from work every day and it's extremely reliable.
If you maintain these trucks properly they'll last literally forever and rarely break down.

My 95 Sport has 190K on her. Bought it in October as a back-up in case my "DD" (Saab 9-5) breaks down. I think i've put 200 mi on my Saab since then!!!! The Saab is sweet, but i CANT BEAR to drive anything other than my XJ!
X 1,000,000 on maintenance. 200k on one is like 100k on a Honda...just broken in.
get one. expect 15 MPG-ish though(worth every drop of gas, trust us)

yeah, some get near 20 w tires/bumpers etc...others get more like ten stock. I got 11-12 when i got it. maintenance and getting it to reach op temp got me to 15-17 now, depending on my usage of the fun pedal.

I have a 98 and before that I had a 96, both were DDs and I have never been let down!
The 98 is up 3in and 31s just got 16.3mpg with a 5% mileage correction when they say its 10% difference but the speedo is consistant 3mph off so I figure avg speed of 50 and 3 mph of that is 6%. Anyways drive them and catch the sickness!

I drive my Jeep to work, since I'm usually pretty gross after work and its only an 11 mile commute (gas mileage doesn't make a big difference). Use the Audi on the weekends and for longer drives.
