lol i love this!!!!!!!!!! i like all the ideas! first thing id do is get in contact with as many people as i could who posted to this thread and figure out a rally point, then get started on the mods, glock under every seat and pull out the rear bench and do dual buckets, 5 point harnesses all around...lol rule # 4- seatbelts... then build a exocage and front and rear winches. figure out a way to make my tires invincible also. id cage in the windows with expanded metal and put some hay spikes on the front...ultimate carnage lol...then id get a couple extra batteries and if possible get an old pickup box trailer to fill with all the other necessities. take out all the airbags lol. build a bumper that would be an air storage tank also. head to the local gun store and stock up on ammo and guns, already have alot but more doesnt hurt lol. stop by the truck stop and get a huge cb antenna and head to the rally point. id avoid populated areas as much as possible and from theyre we would probably all come up with a plan!
and also....can animals be infected, ive always wondered if deer could get infected, or fish cus those would be the main food suplies i think..

I dont think zombies would be a myth tbh? its an epidimic some scientist messing with the wrong sutff and infects a rat/animal/person and then its all down hill from there.
But anyways this is what i would do.
First thing is i would have to drive the xj to the gun shop which is around the corner load up on everything i could, Then head out to get food can goods, water, mre, ect..... then once this was done i would go to the nearest dodge dealer ship and get my hands on a 2012 dodge mega cab cummins. i will then put a 100-150 gallon fuel tank in the bed along with my food/ammo/guns ect and cover it up with a fiberglass cover. (not a camper). Then i would either meet up with you guys at the prison sporting my brandnew mega cab or i would find an old bunker that i could drive into and wait it out listening for it to be over on the ham radio and cbs.
Now you ask why drop the jeep for the cummins? thats simple!
Its reliable!
It gets better fuel than cherokee.
Hauls more.
Fits more ppl.
I can fit more stuff in it.
The cherokee can always get a 4.5inch long arm kit, bilstien shocks, 33/12.50/R15 bfg km2s, bullet proof glass, steel bumper, gun mounted to top, lights, ect and be put on a trailer and hauled behind the dodge to be used as a scouting vehicle.
then i would try to figure out a way to get my hands on some bullet proof glass for the windows and windshield, and get some run flat tires.
Now i would have gotten the following.
1: reliable transportation that gets better fuel milage, fits more people, hauls more, and if needed pulls more.
2: loaded up with food/mre.
3:guns and ammo.
4: protection from zombies, and if i have to run them over no bones would pop the tires and if for some reason you got ppl trying to shoot out my tires to take my vehicle.
5: a place to hide out with family and friends until this zombie stuff is over.
6: the more ppl you got the better it is to defend and protect each other. (if anyone is bitten you got to kill them even if its you mother)
Somthing like this truck with a nice bumper/brush gaurde.

you know Zombies are attracted to things that shine, you in your PURDY dodge are just the first meal... Id just keep my jeep, and throw in a diesel into it. My blacked out XJ wouldn't be as easy to spot at night as your getto gansta ride. Plus everytime you wanna get some ammo you have to jump out of your rig and hop all they way up into your Covered bed. ohh wait your dead a zombie bit your leg open. I just have to reach behind my seat for more.
haha that is cool look rig though

Also i could sand that purdy dodge down and spray it flat black should be plenty of paint left at autozone when everything happens
Not to mention the dodge would be as simple and reliable as turning the key, You know how lng it would take for you to do a engine swap in a cheorkee? not to mention a diesel? you would have to strip the whole fuel system out clean it, fab, struglle, throw stuff, cry, ect....Then what happens if zombies attack the place your doing the swap? or worse other ppl who are trying to survive? they will try to take your food, water, ammo?????
while that is happening i will be looking in my purdy dodge, plus once i make it to that bunker i was telling you about i wont be worryed about people or zombies. a bunker is bomb proof you think some dumb zonbie is gona get it? or ppl?
The prison is a great idea also because its made for ppl to stay inside and not get out, and thats what you going to be wanting to do, plenty of food, and if anything does get in there are a ton of ways to block certain places off to still stay safe. Not to mention plenty of high spots for snipers to sit and take out zombies and to watch for random ppl trying to survive!
I know some of the local jails around here are set up where the cops drive into a building then doors close behind the vehicle, then you get walked through one door, searched, striped, and cleaned, then another door is open and you get put into a type of holding area with about 3 cells, then you can get taken down a hall that has 2 more doors and be put into another room that has about 10 cells. perfect place to pull you vehicle in and hold up fort.
So instead of dreaming on how you want you vehicle to look like now, think of what you can/would do in a day or in a couple hours. if you watched xzombie movies you can see that alot of highways/roads are full of parked cars that were abandoned. so you need a big truck with push bar to move them or 4x4 to go around. and if you ever tryed to push a truck/ car with cherokee its not really easy since the cherokee is light.
And for the ppl who want to go out on the water that will be perfect idea just hope its no hurricane season when all this happen or else your gona be sitting out on your thinking and wishing you was in my bunker, prison, or jail with me but instead you will be

I would grab my BOB on the way out the door, and drive to my BOL.
So to answer specifically, I'd drive it.
As for what I would do after I got to my BOL, I would hide it and only go out occasionally for supply runs. My intended BOL is well protected and remote, so I won't need to do much to my BOV..err Jeep once the dead rise.
While having a capable bug out vehicle is important, I highly doubt anyone with an ounce of intelligence will be driving all over the place looking for zombies intentionally.

I would definitely go with the cummins, around a 99 model. Get a MPG model hypertech and get 30 mpg with it, or maybe steal the neighbors that's already set up how i want You could push a big truck out the way with that thing. Whenever i have free time, I would set up the truck with a full exo cage, strongly tied in to a heavy front and rear bumper with winches front and rear. Add into the exo, a winch on each side on the roof to pull the truck back over should it roll. Add in a 100 gallon aux tank in the bed, to collect fuel along the way. THAT would be my zombie apocalypse vehicle

On second thought I would grab my old Power Wagon swap in a cummins and 6-speed manual tranny put some 35's install a larger fuel tank ad a plow weld chain link over all my widows load up with lots of guns and ammo and then go hold up in costco
