2000 cherokee - airbag light, horn works and a cruise retrofit
My airbag light has been on awhile so in the meantime, I finally got all I needed to retrofit cruise control in my 2000 DJ sport.
Servo, clockspring for cruise, etc.
my horn has always worked but figured after I did this, it would fix it all.
Not only is the airbag light still on but the cruise control doesn't work either. The cruise button illuminates the green cruise light on the dash but that's about it.
I dont think it's a vaccum problem as the vents all work as they should but I'm at a loss over everything.
On a side note, my wiper pumps dont work before/after I installed new ones. I bring this up incase this is a symptom as well

Did you make sure the clockspring was centered before you installed it?

To expand on what I said.
There is a ribbon in the clockspring that needs to be centered.
When you pull the clockspring out of the donor Jeep you want the front tires straight.
And then you secure the clockspring after you remove it so it can't rotate on itself until you are ready to install it.
And you want to make sure the front tires are straight on the Jeep you install it in.
Now sometimes you can't get the front tires straight on a boneyard Jeep.
Not a problem but then you have to manual recenter the ribbon in the clockspring.
IIRC turn all the way to one side till you get slight resistance. Turn it too much and you will rip it off the connections.
Then back the other way 2 1/2 turns.
Would have to go look that up to be certain but I think that is what it was.

And then you drove the Jeep. Turning the steering wheel and not having enough ribbon for in one direction or the other.
Most likely ripped the ribbon off the connections.
I am just guessing here so keep that in mind.
Please. LOL.

Taking the air bag off again to see, looks like the clockspring isnt clicked in. Switches are from a 99-01 and I have a 2000 sport. Clockspring from a 2000. And otherwise everything should work. I'm the common denominator with why it isnt lol

Ohms I think.
So you did not put the 2 tabs that secure the clockspring in the column?

Honestly dont remember. I'm getting another puller in a few and we'll find out if they were broke or not I suppose...
I'd imagine they might be broken because I'd like to think I would have clipped them in. I'll chime in again when I find out and snap a pic

Secure might have been to strong a word. More like to keep the clockspring in place. LOL.
