Like I said when I used the word secure it was a little to much.
The tabs just kind hold it in place.
Wondering if the clockspring can rotate a bit without the tabs.
I tried to Google broken clockspring tabs real quick and couldn't find anything useful.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that since those 2 tabs are broken, that I need to get a new one? Sucks, they're pricy and the pull a part near me has no more

I would hold off for a couple seconds.
Hopefully somebody will chime in who has been through this exact scenario and can't offer some insight.
Still wondering if you did rip the ribbon from in not being centered though.

Secured it with 3m tape. Prepared both surfaces and got it to stay without those tabs... put it back together and for like 10 seconds the airbag light was off and then came on again. Done screwing around with it for today. .

Just so you can see what is inside:

Personally I would not feel comfortable doing this but that is me
I like it.

Thanks. I have good ideas sometimes, lol. I'm probably going to end up biting the bullet and getting a new clockspring... will I have to recenter it or a new one is probably good to go out of the box?

There are 2 holes in the clockspring. 1 hole in each rotating half. New there should be a zip tie or
something in there so the 2 halves don't rotate.
You will keep it secured until the last moment before putting it in.
If it were to rotate a little 1/4"-1/2" that is not a problem though.
I zip tied one that I took out of a Jeep where I did have the front tires straight.
Till I used it.
See that is another thing. I see them used on Ebay all the time. But I never see them zip tied.
Now you can still recenter them but I would like to buy one zip tied cause IMO it means the guy
who took it out of the Jeep knew what he was doing.

Thank u for all the help... I'm done with that for today until a new one comes. The local auto part stores only have clockspring w/o cruise.... might you have any ideas why my wipers work as they should front and back but the fluid doesnt shoot out? I put new motors in but still dont work and they arent disconnected at the cowl and for the second i dont hear the pumps trying to work with the spray is engaged. Is there a ground or something else that would prevent them from working but letting the actual wipers wipe?

There is one other thing. Pretty sure you can check a clockspring with a meter.
For continuity. If I remember correctly there are 3 holes in the yellow connector.
Problem is I can't remember which 2 you want to check.
Thinking if you were to check them all. 1st and 2nd, 1st and 3rd, 2nd and 3rd and did not
get a beep then that would be an indication that the clockspring is bad.
Cause think about it.
The ribbon is just one big wire. In a sense.

IMO a meter and a cheaper scanner that will graph live data are things you should have when you own a Jeep.
I have one that will graph live data. Cost me $35 a number of years ago.
So I can see what O2 sensor voltages are, fuel trims, etc.
But don't have a clue as to how to interpret that info. LOL.
