that is a 97-02 tj seat judging by the pattern.
it is very easy. just have to look at the mounts in the back of a tj to see how the seat fits in.

yeah, the rear mounts in the tj are on the fender tubs so when the back is upright, it slips in the mounts then when you lower the back, the seat folds and flips forward. it's a simple and pretty cool design.
it would be pretty easy. even to make the front mounts as they're only a flat triangle with a hole in it. the seat has a little 3/8 roundstock sticking out on each side that just slides into the left bracket, then the right bracket and center the seat. simple and effective.
lots of spare tj seats around as most guys run without them for the extra cargo space.

Would it be best to have a roll cage in the rear cargo area to protect those passengers in case of an accident? I saw this XJ get hit from behind and messed up the whole cargo area.

Also consider Volvo wagon third row seats. They are low profile and passengers would face rearward, entering from hatch. Probably best for someone under 5'. Had one in a 1989 wagon so you may find one for cheap at a salvage yard or pick-n-pull.

great idea, just like the old volvo wagons. Only problem i could think of is if you are lifted kids might have some trouble climbing in the hatch, but other than that I think it'd be pretty functional
