4wd i think i broke something?
So yesterday on my way home from work and I was coming around a corner on a back road and all of a sudden there was this dog! So I hit the breaks and slid into a ditch cause it was wet out and my tires suck. But any ways it hit the left side and went up on two but the front wheel took the most of it. So I tried to get it out but they just spun so I put it in 4wd and it got or fine and ran just fine (cause it's a jeep) lol but anyways when I went to turn back onto the road I heard this kinda thump thump grinding noise like every rotation like some thing was bent and hitting every time I went around. But when I got back up on the road and went in a straight line with 4w still on it was all good but as soon as I went to turn it would do it again. But with 4wd off it's fine no noises or any thing. Any body have any ideas of what it could be? Thanks

This is definitely not advanced tech.
The reason you are hearing/feeling that is because when in 4wd, the front axle locks. When you turn, the inside tire travels a smaller distance, so you will hear and feel the steering fighting.
Never drive in 4wd Part Time on hard surfaces.

Sorry I'm new to this forum thing but it never did that before I hit it and the sound is only coming from the left wheel no madder witch way I turn? And I feel it catching on something even when I turn just a little bit? And what do you mean never use four wheel drive on hard surfaces isn't that what it's for?
You probably did damage something. No telling what is damaged without you checking it out.
Things off the top of my head, tie rod end, control arm, track bar, knuckle. Lots of stuff.

Your transfer case will explode...
4wd can be used on dirt, ice, snow, mud, ice cream, corn... anything that's not going to supply the grip of pavement.
How many times have you driven in 4wd on pavement before?
You should break your rear drive shaft and try to drive home on 35's in 4Hi on pavement running about 50. It'll make you grow new chest hairs.

No problem. Nothing wrong with asking a question. I wasn't trying to be offensive.
I'd just about bet that's the only thing wrong. Tho, you could have bent something... It wouldn't hurt to climb under there and just visually check everything. Does it pull one way or the other. Does it handle any differently than it did?

Alright thanks tho I really appreciate the help but no it drives fine in 2w and I took a look under and everything looked fine from what I could see and the only reason I think I broke some thing is because the sound only comes from the left side. But when I had it up on the jack and I moved he wheel back and forth I heard some thing cluncking? And the cv shaft was loose? That's the part that has the two u joints and goes right to the center of the wheel hub right?

Pull the wheel off and make sure the spindle nut is tight.
