6.5 inch lift advice

6.5 becomes almost unstable on certain camber situations. Low COG is what everyone should shoot for. KTM has a thread up here about fitting big rubbers (35s+) on 3 and less inches of lift, still being able to flex like a taller lift..The low COG will keep you planted to the terrain, trimming and bumpstoping will get you the articulation you need (too much can be a bad thing). 6.5" isnt really to the point of being scary unstable, its just a lot of lift, for little purpose..you can do basically the same thing with 4.5" and have a much more stable rig.

Trail riding......... 4.5 I guess is ok, you wanna crawl a bit your gonna wish you went higher, 6+.
Check mine out..6.5 low arm with drop brackets, did short arms (adjustable) first thinking of upgrade later and haven't found the need yet, anything lower on 33's would look dumb in my opinion.
Read the size of tires the kit was designed for to make your decision, for crying out loud, 6 for 33, 4 for 32 and so on.

But all in all is my cherokee with 6.5 inches and 33s going to be fine for driving to school, girlfriends, work, etc... And the occasional off roading, probably like 2 times a month if that.

I went with the Iron Rock Offroad 5.5" long arm kit. NO REGRETS! i did spend $1500 over all but it came with everything i needed and some. Ride is smooth as hell, and i haven't had any problems yet. I did my research and as far as bang for your buck this one took it home. I was looking at RE, RC, Rustys and IRO lifts and this one won by a long shot. As far as customer service, "BEEFY" parts, reviews, flex, ease of install, and everything i needed this company had it all. a buddy of mine has RC and has had to change his rear shocks 4 times and he hasn't even had it for a year yet. another buddy of mine says his ride is "Rough" lol. But to each his own. i run 33's with this 5.5" and my buddy with the RC 4.5" also runs 33's with no rub. funny thing his jeep sits just as high as mine
but neither of us have an SYE kits and we HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO VIBES. so thats pretty cool. NE ways Good Luck. let us know how it turns out.

Not trying to give anyone hell but I promise that if you wheel a lower, bump stopped rig one time you'll swear by it.

Same size tires, one inch smaller lift and look at the difference. (Well, you'll have to scroll back up and look.)
It's not that a 6.5 inch lift is going to make your Jeep spontaneously explode... it's that the 2" difference in height makes an amazingly noticeable difference in stability.
Not trying to give anyone hell but I promise that if you wheel a lower, bump stopped rig one time you'll swear by it.

Im on a 6.5 ish inch lift total, with cut and folded fenders, and i get a ton of flex which i like, and have had it leaned pretty far over (quite a bit beyond my comfort zone) and came out wheels down. There were a couple of times where i questioned whether or not i would though. I do need some drop brackets for my short arms, i get alot of flex like i said, and i dont MIND the ride, but to smooth things out a little and have things working the way they should it is an upgrade i will be investing in.

Def upgrade the steering though. If i were to do it all, i would go to rocky road outfitters, and get their 5" with drop brackets and highsteer.

I ran with 6.5" and 37s for one trip
Just one trip because there was too much weight transfer and I just wasn't comfortable doing the same trails I used to do at almost half that height.
New guys talk about how much lift and how much flex they have.
Experienced guys talk about how they fit their tires comfortably and how stable they are on the trail, all while having as much flex as the newbies.
And thats they way it is pretty much always going to be. The tall lift guys will learn from experience if they ever get into the more technical trails. If they never get into the more technical trails, then their tall lifts will be just fine for them and they will have more mallcrawl cred.
