6.5" lift with 33s or 4.5" lift with 31s

I think the op is going after looks more.
There are a lot of ways to gain GC.
As mine sits (3"-4"). I have the same belly clearance as a jk with 4" of lift and 37's.
Thanks to the xj, and a flat belly conversion.
That is why I can afford to lower to two inches of lift. And I will be going to 35's without having to lift it any.
I personally like the comp buggy GC rule. 50% of tire height is your belly clearance.

For what your after just looks can be done for a couple of hundred bucks. Front coil spacers and rear 2" shackles on top of what you have then you have 4 1/2-5" of lift and up to 35" tires.
Best part use the $1200 or so left to buy some good shocks and other goodies.

I am running 33 x 12.5 on a 3 1/2"lift and rubbed so bad I couldn't get out of the driveway. Trimmed front and rear fenders and going to a taller lift. Then again I play on rocks and need more room than a mall crawler

FWIW, I crawl, and ride trails, with 33's on 1.5" of lift, very minimal trimming, and bumpstopped. I have no rubbing, and can easily flex more than most of my friends XJs. I still have halfway decent uptravel and enough downtravel to unseat the coil springs up front, on short arms. I know I can fit 35's without going over 2-2.5" of lift. Mine is far from being a mall crawler, it gets wheeled hard, and spends more time off road than on road, and it works great.

You know a bigger lift isn't going to make your wheel wells bigger right?

Thanks for all the info guys.
I think I'm going to be looking into a 3-3.5" lift.
Are there any other lifts that are closer to $500? Do I need new shocks, SYE, driveshaft for a 3-3.5" lift?
If I get the coils/leaf springs I'll get more flex than if I get spacers right? I would rather pay more for coils/leaf springs than spacers.

Whats the advantage of building my own leaf pack? Would it be that much better than the RE 3.5" leaf?
Are the RE 3.5" coils good? I've heard that RE is pretty good. Every time I mention Rough Country people say its bad.

Yes on building = better, but unless you know what you are doing. I would not advise it. Lot of work compared to just bolting on a RE pack.

I've heard that older model cherokees handle lifts better. I don't really want to have to do anything other than the lift kit. Should I just get the lift and install it before i buy sye/tc drop/driveshaft?
