6 inch lift questions - replace Leaf, Blocks...Etc
bought a 98 and it has a 6 inch kit , leaf springs need replacing. It currently has 2" blocks under springs. When i replace should if find 6 inch spring? Or smaller and reuse blocks?

I agree, 2" blocks not good on an 1xj. One thing I would suggest though is to check driveline length. Installing blocks many times requires a longer drive line to keep from pulling it apart at the slop joint

Agreed on getting rid of those 2" blocks. I think the first step in determining which exact springs to buy (assuming you want to be at the same ride height after the update as before) is to think about how to get the right shackle angle. Is your current leaf spring shackle currently at a good angle?

It's kind of hard to troubleshoot without seeing a picture, but it sounds like you've got it figured out.

Great input
Okay, got brand new 5-in leaf springs. Hoping this is not too high. Everything else on the steering and the front end of the rig is all stock. I know I'm going to have to go through all of that as well just hope I don't create any death wobble with these changes. Thanks again for the input
Cool. If you buy brand new 6" lift springs and put them on extended shackles, there's probably a good chance you'll be way too high in the rear. It's probably safer to buy a set of new 4.5" lift springs. Extended shackles with multiple spring eye holes are usually the key to getting it right. The great thing about them is, they're not that expensive.

I noticed that in my Rough Country kit I bought in January that is sold as a 4.5" lift kit that the springs themselves had a sticker that said "4 inch lift springs." So you think to yourself, "that's interesting." Then when I compared my pre-lift (stock) and post-lift measurements, I actually had 6" of lift in the rear. I know the springs will settle and honestly I love the look.
But it's all such a moving target depending on how much weight you have in the rear it seems.

Pics on 6 inch lift
That jeep guy- I'm going to attach some pics of the front end. Just bought this thing with the 6-in long arm package got everything else looks pretty stock. Definitely need to replace the leaf springs along with all of the front end steering components. If I put a dropped pitman arm will I need to put an extender on the track bar as well?
Btw, I did check to see if it has extended shackles in the rear for the 5-in leaf springs I just purchased. Fortunately it's got some adjustability with the different eye holes on it.

Yes you will. If you were to draw lines between the pivot points in the track bar and drag link, it should form a parallelogram. All sides need to be equal and opposite sides need to be parallel. Looking forward to your pics
