Hey has anyone swapped out there u-joint shafts with a newer style cv shaft ... My u joints are smoked and the yoke looks ruff... The advance auto parts store sells a new axle shaft assembly for $65.00 no core charge I looked at the shaft when I was there it looks like it will fit but im not sure has anyone tried this yet????

 

Are asking about an axle shaft or drive shaft? For a CV drive shaft to work, Properly, you need a SYE. $65 is that an outer stub axle?????

 

Most people would swap the CV axle OUT, going to U-joints. CV axel not real good offroad.

 

OEM CV shafts aren't that good due to the cage that holds the bearings in is a weak link... But there are aftermarket companies are making really good CV joints with much stronger cages. In some cases they can be just as strong as a U joint setup. Maybe even stronger...

 

Yes the axle shaft... the price is for the complete axle fromthe pig to the hub.
