97-01 XJ Axle upgrade abilities, for a D60 upgrade.
I've been looking around the internet for an axle upgrade, I'm Curious as to which axles from what vehicles are able to be put under my 01 XJ, I'm looking for a D60 upgrade, I've been looking at a Dodge B3500 for my rear axle but not sure, and was looking for insight. Also wondering what type of D60 Front end would fit. I'm doing either a 5.3 or 6.2 LS swap as well. It will be a weekend ride. Also should note if I go with the 6.2 I'm going with the D60, if I go with the 5.3 I'll probably go with the Ford 8.8 axle.
This is my build in the teardown process..

What type of steering box upgrade would I need to do for these axles, the stock box would not be able to handle those axles. And not sure the dodge durango steering box would work. I'm looking at the Iron Rock Offroad 6.5" Rock link Pro long arm lift kit. For my new suspension. I have the Rough Country 4.5" long arm lift kit right now.

Skip the 8.8 unless you are staying with a stock front axle.
Super duty Dana 60, 2005+ is best and get the matching 10.5 rear axle, they are super cheap, and you dont need to worry about wheel bolt pattern, if you went with the dodge rear axle or a 14 bolt you will have different bolt patterns front and rear.
Stock steering box tapped for hydro assist with WJ v8 steering pump and an Ironman 4x4 style brace and you will be good.
