Hi,
I'm planning to lift mine 3 inches and put 31's on. Also I am planning a steel bumper with a winch eventually. Will the bumper and winch weigh my front end down enough for my tires to rub? Should I go to 4.5 for this reason?

Two ways to combat this: stiffer spring rate or a coil spacer to make up amount of lift lost by the bumper.

I have a stock 2001 XJ, will be towing a 2500lb boat trailer. The rear already sags compared to the front. Is something like this worth considering? Lift is not a concern because I have 80% good tires now and no money to replace with larger

Since they're an HD OEM replacement part, they're sold by lots of online dealers (some of the discount places have 10-20% coupons available: google 'em); Street Side Auto has them pretty cheap (currently out of stock tho'), plus they usually have a discount, and free shipping for $100 or more orders (just depends). I was able to pick them up for $70/ea delivered last fall (woot!).
...you could probably haul a 25 foot dual-inboard cuddy, level, with 'em lol.

I'm at 3" with 31's. When I added the bumper and winch I didn't notice much difference.

31's with a 3" lift don't rub the fenders at all. They only rub the bumper endcaps, if your replacing the bumper it won't be an issue. Where you WILL have an issue is with your lower control arms. Stock wheels with 31X10.5 rub the control arm a little bit at full lock.

Hey y'all after reading this thread and looking around I have decided I want a 2 inch lift, I could do a 2.5 if the price was right? Anyway what brands/lift kits do y'all recommend? Thanks!

Is your budget for jeep+mods 5k, or 5 k for just mods? If its 5 k for mods, you can build one bad *** xj.

Go 4.5 an 35s. I have 33s on about 4 inches of lift, and could easily run 35s. And you can run 35s on stock gears, but be prepared to spend a lot of time in 4 low, and a lot of money on gas.

I can barely afford the add a leaf kit much less a full leaf spring pack I just need good solid advice from someone as to what to do and how difficult is it to Install I wrench on Harley's for a living at a dealership in NC so I have plenty of tools I know this is a lift and tire but I know now too after reading on some more about my year model jeep I have some really sucky diffs and axles I just need a clear answer as to what year jeep I need to rob diffs and axles from ( front & rear) to do a straight bolt in swap any info on ANY OF THIS would be greatly appreciated

I reccomend the rc 3" kit.
First time install of a lift is a daunting project. Took me and a buddy 2 days. Preperation is key, gota have a 21 socket, t-55 is helpful. PB BLAST OFTEN prior to lift. Rent a spring compressor from autozone.
And remember.... This is your suspention system. Its not the thing you want to cheap out on because without it, your kinda screwed.
YouTube has an install video for the rough country 3" add a leaf kit. Watch it its a quick demo of what you'll need to do.. they make it look sooo easy though haha
