So this is somewhat tire relevant but probably is more related to the drivetrain. Currently I am running a 3" lift on 31s-Rancho RS9000 adjustable suspension with Rough Country Leaf Springs--here's where the drive train comes into play. I want to eventually upgrade to 33s; however, I have been hearing some controversy regarding axles. Unfortunately, both of my axles are Spicer 35 (.307). I found out my rear pinion and seal is bad so I decided to upgrade my rear to a Chrysler 8.25. I did this because it was most cost effective at the moment and if I were to run Dana 44s or even a Ford 8.8, I'd want to do the conversion whole, with new ratios. So, with the Chrysler in the rear and a Spicer in the front, assuming I upgraded my lift, do any of you guys know how the axles would hold up?

The Hp30 and 8.25 will hold up fine with 33's and 35's. I beat the hell out if mine on 33's. if you do plan on going to a 35 I would start looking Into trussing and chromoly axleshafts

Yeah, I was definitely thinking about the chromoly axleshafts. But at that point, I figure it would be worth it to just put in the upgraded dana's in there. Currently do to school, I am not able to do too much trailing so I think the 33s will be a nice upgrade. Also, another question: Have you ever experienced your tires rubbing in full lock? Its rubbing against--I forget the name of it. Basically the tire notches are rubbing against what looks like connects part of the frame to the front axle shackles. Anyone know what I am referring too?

Yeah its definitely not the control arm. The control arm is situated directly behind the tire. The part of the body I am referring to is about four o'clock with the wheel pointing forward, looking at it from a perspective of looking forward. Here's a pic:
It's rubbing wear the luster is
Any ideas? Thanks

Well I feel like an idiot... I didn't think about the lower control arm. Well anywho, that lip is catching on the notches of the tire sooo, does anyone know of "better" control arms, ones you would recommend especially for wheeling?

Pretty much any aftermarket control arms are round so its less of an issue but you can adjust your steering stops to get it to not touch it.

That's not a bad idea. Do you think backspacing will eliminate the rub as well? I'm looking into purchasing new rims--either with some hefty offset (any recommendations??) or 3.75-4" backspacing.
